After much searching and doing `online' quotes my tesco quote came to just over £800 fully comp. At the time I was just 19 with 1 yrs no claims. It was the cheapest quote I got, some companies were quoting over £3000!!!!!
I also had a very good quote from direct line www.directline.co.uk which was a close second.

I had never heard of Tesco doing insurance before so i did have my doubts. A friendly telephone manor and the option to purchase online are excellent positive points. Purchasing online and the quotation system itself are very easy to use. The website interface is clear, concise and easy to navigate. You get a further 5% off if you buy online!!!
Tesco card members also get points on their card. There is also a Free 24 hour Windscreen Repair and Replacement Service (for comprehensive cover only).
I have had no problems what so ever with them and I am very happy with the level of service. They post information quickly and promptly and keep you informed.
The only downside is that if you have an accident they do not supply you with a courtesy car. This needs to be considered....dont be taken in by the cheap price - its cheap for a reason!!!!!!

Tesco Insurance have a new thing called Temporary Replacement Car which, for £12.60 a year you can add to your policy. This entitles you in the event of a claim to a hire car for 14 days.
However after 14 days even if the claim is still going on the car is taken back and will not be extended.
In some respect this hire option is better than the cars other insurers offer as they offer cars only subject to availibility so if their approved garage don't have cars availible then you can't have one!
You can add this option to your Tesco Policy at anytime, but be aware you can't have a claim and then add it! If you have Tesco Insurance or are taking it out then get Temp Replacement Car cover. £12.60 is not a lot of money really.

I just got a qoute from them today too - not as cheap for me though as direct line. Lots of companies are now not offering a courtesy car to keep premiums down. This is OK so long as you are not at fault in any accident and can identify the other driver as you can claim the cost of a hire car back - however, if, like me, you are hit in a car park and are not there to see "whodunnit" then you are stuffed!
