As a former member of staff for Tesco, my experience saddened me immensely and leaves me with nothing to reccomend it and say buyer beware. My first minor incident in snow left me starnded in sub zero temperatures for over 5 hours while tesco argued that my car had broken down and had not been in an accident despite the fact it had hit a barrier and become undriveable, and their nominated accident recovery was sent to two wrong loactions.
The second incident was the worst. In a nut shell, my 5 week old car was written off after a rear end shunt. I was hit at 55mph when stationary. tesco said it was not their responsibility to get me home, refused a courtesy car, refused to organise one with the guilty parties insurance, would not provide a guarntee of the security of my vehicle at the location they dumped it at, refused to take me home or to destination, valued my vehicle as the wrong age, valued the vehcle at £3000 below the recognised sale price, need i go on.
This was a comprehensive policy.
Tesco refused to deal with this satisfactorily after a 13 page complaint and offered £25 compensation. They suggested i speak to the Financial Ombudsman as they had not broken any regulations. An investigation by the Financial Ombudsman found Tesco had breached ABI regulations and they were subsequently charged £400 by the Ombudsman for processing the complaint.
Never again!

I thought it was normal practice when a new car was less than 6 months old and it is writen off, the policy automatically pays for a brand new replacement of the original model? Personally i don't like tesco insurance, i cancelled my policy after 7 days!
