Advantages Does what I need it to

Disadvantages Useless box

Kitchen foil, now this is an item I always have in my kitchen. It's not always Tesco foil I buy, but more often than not I'll find I've put some of this foil in my trolley whilst shopping. I always tend to buy the smallest size foil, but I use it so much I think I'd probably be better off buying a bigger size.

~Tesco Kitchen Foil~

Tesco kitchen foil comes in a long cardboard box, which once opened reveals quite a sharp serrated edge, the foil is wrapped tightly around a cardboard tube, which when pulled will unravel to the amount I require then it will easily cut off on the serrated edge of the box, then I can close the box up and store it for when I need it again. Now, this sounds all well and good but it doesn't always go to plan when I decide I need some foil off the roll. Many times I have pulled the foil only for the box to rip, so the serrated edge will not work correctly and the foil has jumped out of the box and spread itself around the kitchen, and believe me most the time I am not in the mood for this to happen, in fact I'm never in the mood for this to happen because you can guarantee it will happen when I'm rushing to do something, when I don't have the time to chase kitchen foil around the kitchen. On the other hand when the box and serrated edge do cooperate, the foil tears quite nicely leaving the remaining foil neatly in the box.

I use this foil for a lot of different things, the main thing I use it for is my grill pan, I find this makes the whole cleaning process so much easier, so I always use it for that. The foil isn't too thin and by no means thick, but it seems to do what I need it to do quite well. It's strong enough for what I want but it will tear easily if I want it to. I also use it when I'm roasting joints or a chicken, the foil works quite well for this also. Sandwiches is another thing I sometimes use the foil for, when I've run out of sandwich bags for Josh's lunchbox, the foil keeps his sandwiches fresh enough so the foil is good for that as well.

I am quite impressed with this Tesco Kitchen Foil if I'm honest, the only thing that really puts me off is the cheaply made box the foil is presented in, if that was just a little stronger then this product would be perfect in my opinion. As I mentioned already I buy the smallest size foil and after writing this review I think I know why I stick to the smallest size, it has to be because of the box collapsing so easily and I figure if I buy the box with the smallest amount then I won't have to wait so long to replace it when the foil runs out! (does that make sense?)

So on the roll of kitchen foil I buy I get 10 meters of foil which is 300 mm wide, seems quite narrow but it does what I need it to do so that's why I continue to buy it. The foil can be used in the oven, fridge and freezer.
~Warnings~

The box which holds the foil has a very sharp cutting edge, so do be careful with this, especially if there are small children about.
Foil should be kept away from electrical elements and naked flames.
