Disadvantages: doesn't come for free

...site I visited was the Tesco Finance site. I am already comfortable with the idea of using my local supermarket for financial products as well as my bread and milk. I have a credit card with them, which has proved a good choice in spite of a few teething troubles. ...cover is not provided by Tesco themselves but by Norwich Union Insurance. This premium is guaranteed to stay the same for the next 20 years and will pay out this amount if one of us were to die tomorrow or in 19 years time. It will also pay out if either of us are diagnosed with a terminal illness within this time period. This gives us the added security of knowing that we would be able to make ends meet under these circumstances.

Cheap life insurance

Advantages: Cheap insurance
Disadvantages: None as yet

...is until I read that Tesco had started offering Life Insurance services too. Their Life Insurance is underwritten by Norwich Union and offers a 16 per cent discount on the Norwich Union prices. So basically you get the same product but cheaper. The lowest monthly charge is 5 pounds so if you can find cheaper than that then you are doing well but I found that this was a pound or so cheaper than the other companies I contacted. ...

Tesco life insurance

Advantages: Very cheap
Disadvantages: none

...cheap. I found out that Tesco life insurance was actually underwritten by Norwich Union. We also got a quote from Norwich Union but surprise surprise....the quote was more expensive than the one from Tesco. We did several other checks on other companies and came to the conclusion that : Tesco Life insurance is really cheap and affordable. It may even be the cheapest one in the market. The website was extremely user friendly and efficently fast. ...

Tesco Pet Insurance - there is a disadvantage

Advantages: Sometimes cheaper than other pet insurers
Disadvantages: Only pays for 12 months on any condition

covers the dog for life (and was slightly cheaper than Tesco!). I have since added my first CKSP onto this policy although they have excluded the "dry eye" condition for a period of 12 months with a view to reviewing the condition. But I have the knowledge that if any of my dogs takes ill for a period of longer than 12 months then they are covered. All in all, Tesco pet insurance is good - they do not quibble in paying out the claims - but you need to be aware of their 12 month clause. ...

Can I get beans at the bank

Advantages: handy
Disadvantages: is it a bank or a supermarket?

with a plastic card whenever you like. Its easy access. This does make it easier to save. If you have a little extra cash after doing your shopping you can put it into your savings account. You can set up an ISA account through Tesco and save paying tax on your savings, get you car insurance, home insurance and even life insurance from just 20p per day. There's pet insurance, foreign exchanges services, and even travel insurance. This all sounds very good but something about a supermarket setting up a financial services section bothers me. It doesn't quite feel right to buy myself an ISA and insure my house while I'm stacking up a trolley with milk, cereal and baked beans. I might be old fashioned but I wouldn't expect my bank to start offering me six eggs and a packet of soap powder, now would I? ...

Disadvantages: Hopefully none - new customer - too early to say

and painlessly. Sadly with most insurance companies, your first real experience can be when you need to make a claim, so hopefully I will not be updating this op with experience of dealing with a real life human. If you are looking for cheaper car insurance, why not give them a try? - you may be pleasantly surprised. Where to find them: http://www.tesco.com/finance/home.htm ...
