I have recently taken out a mortgage on a house and therefore needed to take out life insurance. Having never done this before I decided to shop around. Taking the advice of friends I asked for quotes from Norwich Union as I had been told they were reasonably cheap. Having amassed a collection of quotes I found that yes they were able to offer the cheapest service for me. That is until I read that Tesco had started offering Life Insurance services too. Their Life Insurance is underwritten by Norwich Union and offers a 16 per cent discount on the Norwich Union prices. So basically you get the same product but cheaper. The lowest monthly charge is 5 pounds so if you can find cheaper than that then you are doing well but I found that this was a pound or so cheaper than the other companies I contacted.

You are so right, that when buying insurance policies you need to look around. The same
policy can be priced with great variance through different insurance companies.
Just to let you know, that whilst undetaking the same painful need to obtain quotes, i was referred
to a company (broker) who reimburse you 62% of the commission they make from the insurance
company. The company name is Torquil Clark and can be located on the internet or going through FT.Com
You basically need to tell them the policy you want and the insurance company you want
them to obtain the quote from. They do not give advice and all paperwork work is mailed to you,
so there is no phsical person to person contact, but hey, after all the research we do by getting
the quotes we know what we want and get paid for it.
Better in our pockets then the Financial Adviser.
