TESCO'S MALTED MILK BISCUITS!
It began with the attractive blue packaging calling to me across the aisle. Blue is inspirational of course as it smacks of "relaxing and refreshing" rather than "stuff your face!"
There is even a handy picture on the side to entice you in and some handy info to convince you that the product is worthy of your consumption. Apparently the packet contains 200g has a "great taste, now with 10% less salt". That's it - they have landed in my trolley!
I am very restrained and wait until I'm home before hacking my way in. The packet has a tiny peel strip which doesn't work and a flap on the folded seam which proves a fruitless avenue too. So, out with the carving knife (good job I didn't attempt this in the car park!) and I'm in.
Approx 20 biccies are now accessible as the whole side has come away, but of course these need to be air tight so out with the flowery tin - not before I have snaffled a handful of course and put on the kettle.
While awaiting my cuppa I have chance to read the packet and discover that my eagerly anticipated snack contains:
Allergy Advice.... Does contain milk (which I'm very glad of considering the name!), wheat and gluten.
Is it a fruit portion?
Sadly , no, although I did read carefully just in case. It does have just 45 calories and 0.9g saturated fat, as well as 2g sugar which could be a lot worse so don't feel too bad (unless you're already on your 3rd pack!)
Cuppa ready, biscuit aloft.....
- dunking test: Quite solid, not at all bad providing not too much was dunked at once.
- taste test: It has raised decorated edges which are a fab texture for nibbling round. The biccie itself is snappy and not over sweet. This is a good thing taste wise but also means you can kid yourself that you are not eating too much sugar and have another few! They had a slightly shortbreadish texture and dissolved on the tongue in a very pleasing way.
- keep test If you are very strong willed and succeed in not munching your way through the whole packet in one sitting these keep well in an air tight tin for maybe a week (probably more.... but hey! I can't eat chocolate okay!)
Verdict:
A fab, tasty, dunkable, not-too-sweet, light-textured, well-packaged-apart-from-early-access, cheap, fairly-ok-for-you pack of biscuits (ha ha - you could have skipped the blurb and found out the answer here!!)
Do try some sometime -they're only 40p - but remember my sorry predicament and please leave a pack for me!
Advantages: Taste lovely, cheap to buy Disadvantages: A few calories!
...buy was a packet of Tesco Malted Milk biscuits. I used to eat these a lot when I was younger but haven’t had any for ages.
The Cost
A 200g packet of Tesco Malted Milk biscuits cost me just 35p and for that I got about 22 biscuits. I must admit I consider that a bargain so that’s a good start.
The Packaging
These biscuits come in quite a basic bright blue packet with a picture of the biscuits on the front together with the name of the product ... ...the recommended adult daily allowance.
On the back of the packet there is a full list of ingredients, detailed nutritional information, allergy advice and storage instructions.
The Biscuits
I opened the biscuits by tearing the red strip around the packet thus opening the same without damaging the biscuits inside. I could then put the biscuits into the airtight biscuit tin to keep them fresh. They looked just the same as I remembered them!
They ...

...On this particular trip to Tesco I was browsing the shelves, and just as I was away to reach for the Custard Creams, I spotted a pack of malted milk biscuits. They were wrapped in a blue packet (much like the one in the image provided), with a n image of two malted biscuits calling out to me. I didn't hesitate further, and popped them into the trolley, along with a few other packets of my dad's choice.
I had tried these biscuits before but it had ... ...Next time you are at tesco and fancy biscuits, pick up a pack of these! They are a lot nicer than other malted milk biscuits I have had, and are practical too. I often sprinkle them on natural yoghurt, and I know my younger siblings enjoy them too, proving that they are suitable for all ages! They may not fill you up, but they can keep you going until your next meal!

Advantages: Taste good & are crazy cheap Disadvantages: none
I had a bit of a panic on one day as I had friends coming over but had no biscuits to offer them (its a standing joke where the host always has to have biscuits) so it was a dash to my local Tesco to pick some up.
Now I'm one of these people who stands in the shop looking at all of the selections and not being able to decide which ones to get, then I spotted the Tescobiscuit barrel pack, its a pack of five different types of biscuit - Custard Cream, Bourbon Cream, Nice & MaltedMilkBiscuits (2 packs) and it only cost 68 pence, to good to be true I hear you say well that's what I thought so I bought these and some others just incase they tasted awful.
Taste
To my total surprise these biscuits taste just like the more expensive ones, if you put them on a plate and served them to your mates they would not be able to tell that they are ...
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful, good quality for the price Disadvantages: None in my opinion!
Review of Tesco Value Biscuit Barrel Biscuits
The product
What is it?
A simply packaged collection of everyday family biscuits from the Tesco Value range. The packaging is the usual Tesco Value white wrapper with the Tesco logo and product description in red and blue.
The package contains five packs of biscuits, one each of bourbon creams, custard creams, nice and two packs of maltedmilkbiscuits. A veritable biscuit barrel selection! The biscuits are simply wrapped in clear cellophane within the outer packaging, no fancy frill or labelling, just biscuits!
The biscuits are of a very good quality in my opinion. Their taste is sweet but not sickly, the texture crispy but not hard. The actual size of biscuits, to be fair is a little smaller than one would get if you bought a branded range, but a biscuit is a biscuit in my ...
