Whilst I am a fan of meats I am an even bigger fan of fish.My other half is the total opposite so very often we find ourselves compromising on what we have for our tea, some days fish and other days meat as I am certainly not going ot get into the trap of cooking 2 different meals per night! The one piece of fish that we both enjoy eating is the Tesco Roasted Salmon Fillet.

This piece of fish is priced at £3.99 and when I say piece of fish you actually get 2 pieces of the salmon so in my opinion this price is quite good and it would be hard to find anything much cheaper. The salmon can be found in the chilled section of your Tesco amongst all the other fish dishes, it has taken me a while to spot them but I am really glad that that I did! The salmon can often be found on offer and the current deal is two packs for £6.00

The salmon comes vacum packed and I have to say that the plastic is quite difficult to get into. I have still not found a safe way of opening the fish other than taking a sharp knife to the packaging! Joking aside this really is not the safest way to be opening the product. Wrapped around the fish is a piece cardboard and printed onto this is all the information on the product. This piece of cardboard is recyclable which is good as the plastic packaging has to be thrown in the bin.

The front of the packaging has the Tesco logo as well as the name of the product on it, there is also the nutritional information, on the reverse is ingredient information and cooking instructions. This product is suitable or home freezing, if you don't freeze and open the fish then you need to use it up after 2 days of opening.

You cook the fish in the oven as it is not suitable for microwave cooking, it only takes about 2o minues on a medium heat (Gas mark 4 / 180 c) I have wrapped the fish in foil in the past and added some of my own seasoning but this is entirely up to you.

The first thing that you notice when the fish is cooked is the smell, it gives off a lovely fresh fragrance but it is not to overpowering. The fish is really soft and smooth to eat and the taste is fantastic, it has the great taste of salmon and is just perfect with a few vegetables as the taste is fie just on its own. The fish is really tender and have yet to findan bones in the salmon. It flakes really easily yet cooks as a whole and is easy to serve.

The chilli on the top of the salmon cooks really well and does not go to crispy or burn up whichis good. It obviously has that hot taste to it but I am not a fan of really spicy foods and I am fine eating this dish so that goes some way to explain the hotness of the chilli topping!

The combination of the fish and this generous amount of chilli topping makes for a really tasty dish!

A few pieces of nutritional information on the fish are as follows: (Per serving)

Calories ~ 195
Sugar ~ 1g
Fat ~ 10g
Saturates ~ 2g
Salt ~ 1.3g

In summary, I would definately recomend this fish. Firstly it is full of flavour, the juices and taste is really good and the fresh tastes really fresh. The price is well worth every penny and for what first liked quite a smal piece of fosh is actually quite filling!

I give this product 4 out of 5

Thank you for reading.
