Now, Army, settle down and wait. Any minute now we will be in contact with our next target. I can see her now. There, the Mother. Here she comes. But what is that she has with her. A little bottle with a blue pump thing? What could it be. Hold tight, don't move. Just watch the target and wait for my command.

She's twisting the 'dispenser' thing. I think she is trying to open that funny looking bottle. Hahaha, the whole pump has come off in her hand. She looks annoyed. But, what's this? It's back on the bottle and now the pump has sprung up a little. Some blue liquid is oozing out.

Ready, men. She is beckoning the boy. This is our opportunity.

Look out, incoming missile. It's the blue goo...but what is it? It smells like pears, no like pear drops, kinda floral in a way. Men, its worse. It smells fresh. It's clean...run for your lives!! Men?? Men? Argh, it's on me, sticking to me...I'm dea......................."

The weapon comes in a clear bottle filled with blue liquid, called handwash. You use it everytime you go to the toilet, and before you eat food. Just turn the tap on, press this little pump like that, just once is fine, and then rub your hands together.

That's it. Rub your hands. I know there isn't many bubbles but its okay, it will still work. Right, now rinse the bubbles off. Yeah, just like that. Is it all off? just rinse a bit more, it is a little hard to come off. Okay, done? Dry those hands and lets go. Job done!

The Facts

Tesco Toddlers Antibacterial Handwash comes in a 250ml sized bottle. It has a handy dispenser on the top, although it can be slightly difficult to activate the pump as the whole thing tends to come off when you twist it. Holding the base tight and twisting the pump a few times does the trick.

The handwash is a bright blue colour and is fairly runny. It has a fresh smell, which is not displeasing to the nose. It isn't exactly floral, but reminds me of the pear drop sweets, which make me think of pears mixed with soap. The downside of the handwash is the lack of lather. It takes a lot of soap, and a fair amount of water to get a decent lather going. Also, the handwash does not rinse as easily as you may expect. As it is aimed at toddlers, I expected a quick rinse to get rid of the soap, but it took a longer run under the tap.

After using the handwash, the children suffered no drying of skin. They both have excema and this did not irritate it in any way. Their hands were left with a fresh, if slightly sickening scent on them. The handwash effectively removed all dirty, paint and a bit of pen when put to the test. The antibacterial aspect put my mind at rest.

As a product for children, the usual warnings apply. Always use under supervision, avoid contact with the eyes etc.

The handwash costs around £1.69. I have been in stores where the price differs, but I think this is about right. However, this product is often on offer. I have bought it when it has been buy one get one free, and also when it has been 2 for £2.

I half-heartedly recommend this product to parents of small children. However, I will continue my War against Germs by looking out for a better product. This handwash scores a respectable 3/5 in my house.
