I was very upset when, the other day my mum came in after a spot of shopping. I went through to the kitchen to have a nosey while she unpacked and popped the yogurts and such in the fridge and the rolls and such into the cupboards. Something was missing. I noticed straight away. We were running extremely low on our chocolate spread and my mum had planned to buy some on the shopping trip. Our usual chocolate spread is NUTELLA. However, I glanced around in a panic trying to find the chocolate spread I had been so used to and to my anguish and upset, my mum had decided to go for the cheaper version!
I was very skeptical. I questioned my mum until she gave me an answer, asking why on earth had she bought Tesco Value Chocolate Spread and not our usual delicacy! The answer was that this was alot, lot cheaper than our normal things, and as were trying to save money for a holiday apparantly we'd be sticking to this stuff for a while. I was extremely doubtful.

"Toast time" arrived, and I was ready for my chocolate fix. However it was only when I went to the cupboard in search of the Nutella that my heart sank. Wearily I retrieved my mums purchase Tesco Value chocolate and hazelnut spread from the cupboard. From first glance, it looked alot cheaper and perhaps of less value to the others. I doubtfully plonked it on the table and took a closer inspection.
APPEARENCE; The 600g of chocolate spread was kept in a plastic jar. The jar was transparent and the milky chocolate could be seen inside. The wrapper around the jar was very plain and minimal. A white wrapper with a red band on, reiterating the fact that the product is "Chocolate hazelnut spread" The tesco logo is in the top corner and the nutrition info is given in simple form on the bottom of the jar.
NUTRITION; The nutrition (_what_ nutrition?) is clearly given on the front of the jar on the label. Now obviously, you can't expect this product to be healthy can you? You would be right. On the front of the jar the calories etc are given in tablespoons, perhaps the suggested serving size? Each tablespoon contains 90 calories and 5.8g of fat. Some people would slop the chocolate spread on and probably would have a tablespoon on each slice of toast. This clocks up a whopping amount of calories and a scarily high amount of fat. If you like to look at things per 100g, this spread would contain 580 calories and disasterous 38.3g of fat. So I dont think if you are trying to lose weight then this would be the best idea for on adaily basis! Obviously this spread isn't suitable for people with milk or nut allergies.
APPEALING? While waiting on my toast popping up I screwed off the white plastic lid from the jar. The chocolate spread looked extremely smooth on top, that was until I dug in my knife! To be honest the chocolate spread just looked exactly like that of nutella and by this time I was getting to be a bit more expecting of the product! The delicious smell of chocolate wafted up, along with a slight nutty smell, due to the hazelnuts of coarse! The smell reminded me exactly of Kinder Beauno's and I couldn't wait to sample!
EASE? Yes. In one word it was very easy to spread. I dug in my knife and scooped a generous amount on to my 2 peices of toast. The chocolate spread looked delightful sitting on my brown bread and I decided the time had come....
THE REAL TEST With my knife, I scraped a little of the spread off to sample on its own. I licked the knife -carefully- and woooow the taste was gorgeous. It was very creamy, yet not sickly and the chocolate was very sweet. There wasn't an overly nutty taste however the slight kick of them lead to my total satisfaction! I bit into my toast and took a mouthful. The crunchy toast and the smooth choco spread mixed together joyfully and I had finished my toast in super quick time.
Once I had finished I was left feeling satisfyed, but sadly I was feeling very full, almost uncomfortable. However I think it was worth it as the taste was delightful and I will definitly be going back for more later!!
COST Like I mentioned earlier this spread is alot cheaper than Nutella. The 600g jar cost only 89p, compared to 400g of Nutella for £1.49. To be honest I think you are much better off getting the tesco variety as I could hardley taste the difference and if you are saving the pennys, its a great treat!!

Advantages: it is lovely Disadvantages: it is fattening
...I bought this tub of Tesco Value Chocolate Spread for a mere 49p, I found this to be very low and did not know whether or not it was on special offer as its nearest rival Nuttella was over £1 a jar.
Now it is in a glass round jar with a white top screw lid and it lasts till November 2004. The label on the front says it is Tesco Value Chocolate Spread and it is 350g. It has the nutritional details on and the Tesco Guarantee and some advice. It has ... ...Oh this is just heaven. I had loads of this prior to Christmas and now I am petrified of opening the lid. Here goes, after unscrewing it, there is a delicious smell of milk chocolate. It is sealed over by a foil top and when you rip this off, there is a full jar of pure heaven, whoops I mean chocolate. Well one dip won’t hurt or will it? lets have a peek. MMM well the chocolate is nice and smooth but if you want it hard, you can leave it in the fridge, ...

...One day whilst in Tesco doing the weekly shop I was going to pick up a jar of Nutella when I noticed Tesco Value chocolate spread at 46p for a 350g jar so I thought hey why not try this instead much to my son's annoyance but hey who is paying for this me or him. NUTELLA CHOCOLATE & HAZELNUT SPREAD
My household are all chocoholics. Not one of us would ever turn down a bar or box of chocolates, and our cupboards are always sure to have some chocolaty snack in it, whether it be chocolate bars, chocolate biscuits, chocolate ice cream, or chocolate custard doughnuts, you're always bound to find something.
Chocolatespread is something that you will always probably be able to find in our cupboards as well. However the chocolatespreads that my mum tends to buy are perhaps Asda Smartprice or TescoValue as she doesn't see any difference between these, and branded name Chocolatespreads. Boy was she going to be proven wrong.
My brother had been staying with a friend, and had come back gloating and telling me that they had been given chocolatespread on toast for breakfast, not only had it ...
