Cistern Blocks These cistern blocks are part of Tescos basic range 'Everyday Value'. A plain white and blue packet holds 2 cistern blocks. These blocks can be used in septic tank toilets and can be used in conjunction with other toilet cleaners. One block should be popped into the cistern of your toilet and left for 5 minutes to settle before flushing. The block is designed to freshen and clean your toilet. The water should change to a blue colour, foam up and leave a pine scent. It is important to keep these blocks away from children and they can cause irritation. 2 x 50g blocks can be bought ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, work well, easy to use, partly recyclable packaging.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

The product This is a round blue cistern block that sits in the tank of your toilet. It will break down in the water and turn the water blue. This should keep your toilet clean & fresh with every flush. The packaging These blocks come provided in packets of two. Each packet is a plastic front with a cardboard backing and within the packet there are two waxed covered blocks. Each of the blocks is blue so there are very noticeable inside the packet. The packaging is very easy to open as I just rip a hole in the cardboard and then tear it open to remove one of the blocks. I usually half rip the ... more

Advantages Advantages Keeps the loo fresh

Disadvantages Disadvantages None really but would like another colour

Lime scale is a bit of a problem where we live and if there's one thing I hate its a water mark around the toilet bowl. I normally keep limescale marks at bay with white vinegar but after having my baby by caesarean I wasn't able to do as much around the house as normal. Worried about how clean the loo would look while I had the midwife visiting I sent my husband Mark to our local Tesco to buy a coloured block to pop in the toilet. He came home with Tesco Everyday Value Cistern Blocks. The blocks are sold in a twin pack and are attached to a card. This is blue and white in colour and has the ... more

I like to keep my bathroom clean, I don’t like the idea of germs and bugs so after the deep bathroom clean once I week, I like to wash around the toilet, use a cistern block and rim block during the week to keep it clean. Packaging and cost Tesco Value cistern blocks come in a transparent plastic casing backed onto a strip of cardboard. There are two blocks in each pack, getting them out in easy, by just tearing the cardboard. These cistern blocks currently cost 30p for two blocks, just 15p each! Mega cheap, when you consider Tesco’s slightly better brand, Tesco cistern blocks currently cost ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, do a good job, don't leave any marks/residue behind

Disadvantages Disadvantages No nice smell to freshen your toilet with

I am quite particular about keeping our two toilets clean as the thought of them being dirty and full of germs disgusts me, especially when we have visitors so I always use wipes for the outer toilet & seat, a toilet cleaner for inside the pan and once every 2/3 weeks I also buy a set of cistern blocks for them from Tescos. I don’t see the point in spending a fortune on a product such as this as they all look the same and do the same job so I just purchase the Tesco Value ones. You get two in a pack which is perfect for us as we have an upstairs and downstairs toilet and the pack is priced at ... more
