As we have central heating I had not thought that we would need any other heating, but with rising costs it made sense to find another way to heat certain rooms. I did not want to pay a lot for an item that may not get a lot of use, so the Tesco Value fan seemed to be just what I needed. I was a bit concerned that this £9 would not last more than a week or so, but it is still working 4 months later.
It has 2 heat settings so there is not a great deal of choice in temperature, but if it got really cold it would not be getting used that much anyway as the heating would go on so that was not a problem. I was a bit worried about the safety of using this item especially if it was in one of the bedrooms but as it has a protection system that means it cannot overheat without switching off. I have had it switched on for some times on a couple of occasions and it has switched off when it did get to hot. I am still a bit worried about using it a lot as there is sometimes a bit of a smell and I am wondering if it is only meant for short term use.
It is not a very big fan and at just 2000 kw of power it is always going to be used when the weather is not too cold and to be honest the noise is going to make it a bit prohibitive. I have found that when I use it in the bedroom it is best to put it on before I go up so that I can switch it off when I get up there.
It is only a small fan so does quite well for its size as it is only 22.5 cm x 13.5 cm x 24.5 cm so can easily be moved around the house. It weighs 1.7kg and the grey and white design is quite nice although that was not really a consideration when I bought it.
It can heat the room up quite quickly, but I don’t know how cost effective it is going to be as electricity is going up, plus there is the fact that it may not be too environmentally friendly.
I would recommend this if you want to take the chill off a room rather than to fully heat it. It is fine for a bedroom when you will soon be under the blankets but have not yet tried it in any of the bigger rooms.
All in all it seems to be a good heater that certainly won’t break the bank.
