At first glance, you may think that this Tesco Value product is value for money, as the range suggests. You pay a mere 35p and you get 150 2 ply tissues in a box that is easy to access. In my experience, Tesco Value products are either hit or miss, with a rare few items being middle of the road. Sadly with this one, it's a big miss, in more ways than one.
The box is bland and boring, as are all products in the range. If you're worried about appearances, you could always take the tissues out of this box and put them in a separate one for display purposes, I suppose, although if you have a cold, these aren't likely to last for very long, as you need to use a few at a time even if you're just having a blow of your nose. This time of year, colds are rife. Schools and colleges have been back for a couple of months nearly, and coughs and sneezes in confined spaces mean that colds and the like spread a lot quicker and a lot easier. I have had a nasty cold that has just gone away, and although I'm guilty of more sniffing than blowing, I do try and have some tissues to hand. These Value products were something I had just randomly picked up in my homely mode a while back, and so I tried to make best use of them.
There's a perforated oval on the middle of the top of the flat box that houses the tissues. This is easy enough to access, and once you've done that, it's easy to get the tissues out. The problem with the tissues is that they're just too flimsy and weak to be worth having for their regular purpose. You can see through them quite clearly, and even if you put two of them together you can still see through. When you blow, you can see why they're see through: there's nothing to them. The moment you get anything remotely wet anywhere near them, they virtually disintegrate, and even blowing forcefully into them can be enough to make a hole. I have used two or three, and folded them in half as well, and only then has it actually made any difference. However, this reduces the size of the tissues and makes it hard to be able to fold and reuse for another blow.
If you just have the need for a one off blow that's unlikely to be wet, this may be okay for you, but when you have a runny nose, this is virtually useless. The other problem is that they're quite rough. They match environmental standards, so perhaps they've gone down the same route as the sandpaper like Value toilet roll and used the same manufacturing process to remain green and conform. Either way, it's not very helpful to have a rough tissue when you have need for constant blowing. It irritates and causing further itching.Ultimately then, this isn't a product I can recommend. They're weak and thin, rough and easy to rip. Blowing can get your hands in all kinds of mess, and it's occasionally as if you haven't even got a tissue in your hands to start with. Even at 35p, they're not worth the bother. I'd go for a better brand over these any day, irrelevant of the price factor. Something cheaper is only worth buying if it works out as value for money. This product isn't worth it. Not recommended.
