With a total of 4 people in the household including my niece - the perpetual eating machine known as a child, and the lack of a car, my sister is pretty much forced to use Tescos home delivery service.
She gets the same old stuff every month and i dont really pay much attention as long as it tastes good and keeps my hunger at bay..Last night i was sat surfing the net, r/r/c'ing people, listening to music, the normal, when thirst struck! I craved something nice, something hot; i was bored of Horlicks, i couldnt be bothered to make fresh coffee, and tea just didnt appeal to me that night. Looking around the cupboard in desperation i spotted a large black glass jar with the trademark "Tesco Value" white label on it.
I got it down and looked around the jar, its pretty standard, which is what i expected it to be seeing its the shops own brand. It clearly shows that it the jar holds 400g of "instant hot chocolate", and has a large blue circled "V" to show that it is suitable for vegetarians... i decided not to rotate the jar anymore and come face to face with the nutritional values for fear of having second thoughts, i decided to look at that afterwards.*5 minutes later*
The kettle has boiled and i pour the water into a mug containing 3 teaspoons of the very pale brown, but all the same very chocolatey-smelling, drink. It mixes very easily, and looks reasonably milky, although it leaves a dark brown ring around the edge of the cup.. i am guessing this is a small amuont of the drink that hasnt mixed or settled to the bottom of the mug.
*Yet another 5 minutes later*After leaving it a bit to cool down, i take my first sip, "a drink into the unknown"...
It has quite a strong chocolatey taste, slightly weak, but that may have just been me being stingy with the powder.. after swallowing it left a distinct sugary aftertaste. Not too bad really for about 50p for 400g? Good value for money, which i suppose is expected for a Tesco VALUE product. Cheap and cheerful.
I reviewed Tesco VALUE crisps a while back.. they were very nice! and so is this!! really recomended if you like a chocolate fix, but you dont to shell out the cash for an expensive but small jar of Galaxy or Maltesers or Dairy Milk drink..*The dreaded moment, 10 minutes later.....*
Looking into the bottom of an empty mug, i realised it couldnt be avoided.. i checked out the nutritional values (the following is for a 32g serving with 180ml water):Energy - 558kJ
132kcal
Protein - 2.6g
FAT - 3.9g
