Advantages: A basic stock cupboard accessory Disadvantages: Nothing more!
Ah, a stock cupboard essential...aside the baked beans and tinned peas, here's the good old TescoValue Chopped Tomatoes. Nuff said.
Priced in the shop at 39p for a 400 gram tin...that's about 6p more than the peeled plum variety, chopped tomatoes are a staple of numerous foods - obvious ones such as bolognese and chilli, and despite their extremely cheap price, they are one of the most important parts of the meal.
Naturally, there are more expensive varieties out there. Even other Tesco own brand ones cost more - some include hints of garlic or basil, for a mere couple of pence more which may be ideal if you only want one can and don't want to both a 'bunch' or 'clove' or whatever these additions come in!
The ingredients are as followed (there's not many!)...
Tomatoes (60%), Tomato Juice, Citric Acid.
Done! As you ...
Who says TescoValue food isn't up to scratch? Well on the contrary my dear Watson...here's a small dessert that is second to none - their individual strawberry cheesecake.
Found in the yoghurts section of your local Tesco, these 100 gram pots cost around the 40p mark. They may not look the most appealing of desserts - in a clear plastic pot with a foil lid with the words TescoValue inscribed on it. Hardly a great advertisment, but fear not, once you try them then you'll keep going back for more.
The strawberry topping is absolutely delicious - sweet, thick and tastes like genuine strawberries rather than some artifical nonsense. The base is a little bit soft compared to a first-class cheesecake base, but remember, you're eating TescoValue here so there can be no qualms about it's quality in comparison with the price ...
Advantages: Cheap And Cheerful Disadvantages: None
I seem to go through biscuits at a rate of noughts in my household. I recently discovered the value range of products from Tesco and I have to say I am extremely surprised at how good and vast the range is and how much money I have saved over the last few weeks and months by switching from my usual branded items. The value selection has products which look similar to their more expensive counterparts however they can often be up to a third cheaper or even as much as half price less. In all honesty my son doesn't really notice the difference so I will continue buying these items. The product that I will review now is TescoValue Jaffa Cakes.
These Jaffa cakes come in a box containing 24 cakes. They are around 56p and I have to say are a good alternative to the original Mcvities range which are considerably more expensive ...
