Last year our cordless phones started playing up and they stopped ringing, at the time we couldn't afford to buy new phones straight away and so we decided to hook up a cheap phone so that we would be aware when the phone was ringing as this was initially the only problem.
We bought this phone from Tesco and it cost us £3.64 although it has now gone up in price slightly to £3.88. The phone is a very simple white corded phone with grey rubber circular buttons on the underneath of the phone. On the base there is space to write a couple of phone numbers although I never bothered with it and the cord it long enough that you can comfortably make a call. The phone has a couple of basic functions but not alot but you can't expect much for the price, there is a last number redial, a small phone book memory, a mute function, adjustable ringing volume and can be mounted on the wall.
The phone works perfectly well, the ring tone is basic and quite loud which is what we needed since our other phones wouldn't ring. I mounted this phone on the wall behind the curtain and mainly just used it for the sound but I did actually answer calls on it a couple of times and the sound was very good and clear. The phone may be basic but it was perfect for the job we needed it for and it is a perfectly adequate phone which at the price is fantastic value, we no longer use the phone as we upgraded once we had the money but I still have it put away upstairs and if we have a power cut it will be great as it doesn't require electricity like the majority of phones do these days.
