Tesco Value Tuna Chunks In Brine......... I would have never even thought of buying this product without it having been recommended to me by a colleague at work. She told me it was just like any other tuna and that for a fraction of the cost it was a true bargain. Now me being me I am never one to miss out on true bargains so at my next weekly shopping trip to Tesco's I decided to pick up a tin. For under 40 pence for a drained weight of 56 grams this was looking like it was going to be a bargain. The Can itself looks pretty cheap as it has the standard Tesco Value blue and white label on it ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Smells vile, texture, appearance, tin design

Tesco value tuna I am trying to cut back on my grocery shopping bills because I spend way too much. One of the things that I always buy on my fortnightly shops is a four pack of tuna from quite a luxury brand name, which usually comes to about a fiver. I love tuna and eat it most days for lunch in a sandwich or in a salad or with pasta etc and it is a really versatile and healthy food so I like making sure there's some in the cupboard. When I last went shopping I decided to buy a couple of tins of the Tesco value tuna because it is a lot cheaper and I knew that even if I didn't like it, it ... more

Tuna is one of my meal staples, and i stock up on alot of the Tesco Value tuna as it's such good value compared to alot of other brands. The tuna comes in a round 185 gram can, and as far as i am aware the tesco value tuna is not available in multi packs. The can doesn't have a ring pull, which in my opinion lets it down a little as it takes up more time to open, so if i'm rushing i usually just grab something else rather than fiddling about with a tin opener, but i am learning to plan ahead more so this shouldn't be too much of an issue soon lol. The tin is easy to open with the can opener ... more

I like Tuna, but only when it is either cooked in my Tuna pasta recpe (found on the back of Cambells soup tins), or mixed with Mayo. I don't like Tuna just in it's normal state - if that makes any sense! This tuna is part of the Tesco Value range, which is the cheapest brand in Tesco. I find a lot of their things alright, but there is the odd thing I wouldn't buy again. This tin cost me 42p and was 186g how it came, and 122g when the Brine had been drained out. The packaging wasn't that exciting. A small-ish round tin that you had to open with a can opener. It has a paper wrapper around the ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap, lasts for ages because it's tinned, can be quite tasty.

Disadvantages Disadvantages product can be a little variable in quality.

I'm one for having things in the cupboard to put in sandwiches just in case I run out of things like cheese or cold meat etc. - mostly this stems from having fibromyalgia so I can't always be certain that I'll be well enough to do the week's shopping which means having stuff laid aside that will last ages and can be used when we need it. Tinned tuna is one of those standby things for me. It's great for popping in a sandwich, or having with a baked potato or even some pasta as an evening meal. It's not something we eat every day or even every week, but it is good to have there, 'in case'. This ... more
