This is another review on a handy store cupboard essential.
Tuna Chunks in Brine (always thinking low fat!!)

Canned tuna really is such a versatile ingredient, and with a couple of cans in the cupboard you are always certain of a meal.
Be it a sandwich, jacket potato, salad or something more exotic a tin of tuna always comes up trumps!!

This ...
...label on it sporting the Tesco Value logo, a picture of the tuna chunks and the normal ingredients & nutritional information.
What I would say is that I would prefer the can to come with a ring pull opener rather than having to use a can opener.

== APPEARANCE ==

There is plenty of brine in the can which resulted in the tuna looking moist.
The chunk sizes are a decent size and it looks quite appetising. ... more

Please no brine

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: I prefer spring water to brine

This is the first Tesco Value product I wouldn't buy again. Not because the quality is not good but because I just prefer spring water to brine. If you don't mind the brine I can recommend the tuna chunks - the quality is good and they are a great base for many nice dishes - have a look at the end of my review for my favourite tuna dish. --------------- Packing The tuna chunks come in a medium sized flat tin without lid opener - for me a big minus ...
...The label is the well-known Tesco Value blue and white design with all relevant information on the back of the tin. The thing that first caught my eye is the 'dolphin friendly' logo on the front - a movement to protect the dolphins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolphin_safe_label). Thumps up for Tesco as they only use tuna that was caught without harming or killing dolphin; LIDL for example still doesn't use this label. --------------- Ingredients ...

VALUE ADDED TUNA (VAT)

Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Status

...look at tinned fish again. Tesco have a range of products denoted by a VALUE label. I'm cooking turkey stir-fry with pasta and suddenly realised that tuna might be a sufficient substitute. My local Tesco are offering tinned value tuna chunks at 34p per 185g tin. I decided to give it a try. *** THE PRODUCT *** The white tin cover has most of the information in blue easily legible ink. The 185g net weight reduces to 129g when drained (mine in brine). ...
...fat will do)or milk according to taste (you can add thickening agent). The product comes with a standard Tesco quality assurance to replace or refund a product, which falls below standards. *** CONTACT DETAILS *** Tesco Stores Ltd, Cheshunt EN8 9SL, U.K. Online details visit at www.tesco.com ...

Tuna, stock up for Christmas

Advantages: plenty
Disadvantages: none

...quest is my opinion on Tesco Value Tuna. Price 33p a tin of 129g. All the tins of tuna normally come in at around this size. Packaging. --------------- Round can 185g with the tuna chunks in brine and the drained weight tells you on the reverse of the packet that it is 129g drained. It is the normal size of all tuna cans and has the distinctive 7 blue lines on it with Tesco value on the front. The label of the can is the usual white Tesco value ...
...It is underwritten with the Tesco commitment, if you do not like it, take it back. Storage instructions and customer advice details on the back of it. The Product ----------------- I was a bit peckish when I arrived home for dinner and found a tin of tuna in the back. After debating for 10 mins or so do I really want a sandwhich or not, time was running out and I decided to open it. The tuna is in brine and just covers all the tuna and it is ...

Tunatastic Value

Advantages: Flavour, Smells not overpowering, Price of course
Disadvantages: Not pull top tin opening

...fave tuna happens to be tesco blue n white stripey value pack! The tuna comes in the usual kinda of small tuna tin, kinda like a quarter in height of a tin of beans or something similar. The annoying thing though is that these tins don't come with a ring pull lid so you actually have to hunt out the old tin opener, though saying that it also means you wont end up covered in tuna juise so to speak if its tough to get off! The tin itself has the usual ...
...most exciting i'll admit but then its whats inside that counts in the end!! I like that fact that this tuna comes in brine, so when your done squeezing the "juice" out you don't end up covered in an oily residue. The smell isn't too strong which is great and the meat itself is the perfect pinky colour that my mind tells me tuna in a tin should be. This particular tuna is just the right amount of "fishy" its not overly strong and pongy and yet it ...

Cheap as tuna?

Advantages: Cheap, healthy, tastes like every other tuna.
Disadvantages: Ewww-it's tesco value.

...because of this i'm glad tesco offers a nice cheap option in the form of their value range. Upon first sight of this, I was reluctant to give it a try, fearing i might end up the worse for wear at the end, but as it turns out, it tastes easily as good as the more expensive princes and john west varieties. The only option for this tuna is chunk in brine, which isn't my first choice, but usually what i go for because of price when i'm buying any ...
...Each 100g contains 101kcals, 23.8g of protein. I love to have it with chopped cucumber and wholemeal bread. A nice healthy snack if ever there was one. So remember, next time you're hungry , grab a loaf and a tin of tesco value tuna. You won't be disappointed. ...

Soupa Trooper

Advantages: Easy
Disadvantages: Not the best soup money can buy

I was sick and tired of everything when I called you last night from Glasgow. But then I boiled the kettle and made a Cup A Soup. Soup: Fodder of old people. Cup A Soup: Fodder of many an undergraduate. Yes it will be nestled alongside the copious amounts of tuna and Tesco Value pasta. As quick and easy as Tara-Palmer-What'sherface in the Aussie outback, but an infinitely cheaper date (at 63 pence) with a damn sight more taste. I mean Darren Day, Purlllleassse (Seeing him naked in Cosmo was a vomfest, but I digress!) To serve, you simply empty a sachet into a mug, add half a pint of boiling water and stir well. The nice people at Bachelors have even provided a set of diagrams, in case you're not quite sure what a kettle looks like (Yes , you again Miss P-T). The soup may seem a little thin when made. The tomato one is ...

Pizza in your hands.

Advantages: Design your pizza from start to finish.
Disadvantages: None

a soft dough and divide the mixture into equal amounts and give everybody a piece. Each person then kneads their dough on the floured plate for about five minutes until it is smooth. They can then make it into any shape they like. But squares and circles are the easiest. Once done they are all placed onto a greased baking sheet and left in a warm place for around 10 minutes. Meanwhile we get the toppings ready. Of course you could anything you like, but favourites in our house are tuna, sweetcorn, pineapple, and slices of tomato. I also get a few slices of the Tesco value ham and roll it up then thinly slice it up. This creates lots of strands of ham that can be used to decorate the pizza. I have eaten sliced up some cooked sausages to put on. But mushrooms, peppers, olives, in fact anything you fancy could be added. By now ...
