Advantages Advantages Addictive, Improves Brain function, Helped keep kids quiet

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be too addictive and lead to halucinations

In today's society we abuse superlatives, we call even the most ordinary of albums “Classics” and with some video games actually selling as part of a “Classics” range it's no wonder the word has been devauled in recent times. Pop albums are described on a regular basis as being a classic before their release, not after they've gone on to long lasting appeal or broken down the barriers of something. Albums like “Thriller” which set a bench mark for all to follow are well deserving of the title of classic but many more recent albums aren't. The same is the case in the video game world, of course ... more

This is the question to every body who has owned an original game boy; Remember Tetris? If you don't, you probably got your GB in portugal of some shady geezer who was also selling mobile phones for £5 at the same time. For all of you simpletons out in this big wide cyber-world called the internet who don't know what this masterpeice of a game is all about, I shall explain. ~ What is it? ~ You are given different shapes which you can rotate and move across while they are dropping to the bottom of the screen. You have got to make a full line, with no gaps, of the shapes for that line to ... more

Advantages Advantages great gameplay, addictive, good for competitions

Disadvantages Disadvantages maybe a little tetris hallucination if you play too long

Basically, Tetris is probably the best game ever in terms of universal simplicity and addictiveness. You all know what it is, so there's no need to explain. It has been copied many times, but remains the classic. I first started playing when I was around 10, in the 80's. I played for a few years, then stopped for a few years. Time passed by...then I rediscovered it. How wrong I was to think that Gameboys were uncool...now I have the old-skool grey Gameboy back! Nostalgia... So now I've started playing again, and play with about 4 other guys from my college. Soon we are going to get another ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great game.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Addictive.

I have to admit, I am not a mad gamer, but Tetris manages to keep me hooked for ages. After receiving the game with a Gameboy when I was a child, I discovered how good Tetris really was, and 10 years later, I still play it as much as I did back then. In fact, I'm surprised it hasn't been worn out!! I suppose that shows the strength and life span of a Gameboy cartridge is great, which is a bonus. The rules are simple - you have to try and create lines by using different shaped blocks to make them. Once you get a line, it disappears and you get points in return - easy!! Only thing is, the ... more

Advantages Advantages Great gameplay, two player mode, huge lifespan, addictive.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Graphics and sound, doesn't play on the DS or DS Lite.

Tetris is one of the all time classic games. It won many people's hearts with it's addictive, genre defining gameplay and it's (at the time) originality. The aim of the game is to line up as many different shaped pieces as possible in order to clear various rows of the grid, and earn as many points in the process. Players are constantly striving for the 999999 points mark in which the game no longer has any more levels to advance to or points to gain, but still continues to play regardless! In my opinion this game is the most fun of all of the Tetris games, because it isn't overcomplicated and ... more
