So I was lucky enough to have somebody to buy me a set of Leather Jeans, a LeatherJacket, Boots and gauntlets. Unluckily they ordered them by mail and in the two week period I was waiting for them I had my first accident.
Luck was with me however. I was coming home from work where I was on a placement through university. It was part of the placement that had me shadowing a couple of fitters, so I was kitted out with overalls over my jeans, thick, steel toecapped leather boots, a quilted shirt and my coat, together with the obligatory...

In those days the correct dress code meant a stylish ensemble of matching trouser and jacket made of the finest black waxed cotton. Crisp when new, but faintly sticky and damp in no time.
Not that there was much wrong with these. They were hard wearing and waterproof. You can still buy similar clothing today.I kept dry but uncomfortable. Getting them on and off was no picnic either.
Eventually I progressed to a 250 Moto Guzzi and wore leather, twinned with a very unfitted nylon oversuit on wet days. This provided real excitement. No. Not the leather i'm afraid.It was more the way I slid up the tank and fell off during sudden stops.Nylon doesn't like this much and nor did I.

...I decided to write this as I recently became a motorcycle enthusiast. I needed to buy things... I already had a decent helmet, gloves and boots but I needed a more winter orientated jacket. So I went shopping.
High street.
First there are high street motorcycle accessory stores. They tend to be very limited in motorcycle jackets... I wanted leather and not textile and found it difficult to find one. The second store I found was particularly useless as the cheapest jacket (although incredibly stylish) was 299 pounds and quite simply, I don'thave that sort of money.
Motorcycle dealers
Slightly cheaper and much more choice, I found. The bigger and more well known the store the better the range. Although most jackets I found were either two piece or brightly coloured (Not what I was looking for) and again the prices didn't vary much...
