Advantages: Brilliant Features. Extremely easy to use. Built in SD card reader. Disadvantages: Slightly pricey compared to other GPS systems.
I recently bought this navigation system for my car. I am not familiar at all with the roads in my city and this little device has already helped me SO much. It's extremely easy to use. It's got a few options for adding destinations - you can either put in the address (even takes partials), or you can search through different categories allowing it to pinpoint the closest in the region and how far away from you they are.
The navigation system itself can be set to 2D or 3D. Both are pretty much the same, but the 3D takes a bit of time to get used to. When in downtown areas, some buildings even appear as 3D structures!
The voice navigation is also quite useful. You can set it to a male or female voice, set the volume level, and when he/she speaks.
Destinations can be saved into the GPS system's built in memory allowing you to just ...
Advantages: Very accurate position finder. High functionality. Disadvantages: Needs batteries. Can operate continuously for only 24 hours
of guesswork and estimation in this and in poor conditions, updating the chart can be difficult and especially so if the crew is inexperienced at boat handling.

Satellite navigators like GPS 2000 used to have built-in errors for US defence considerations, but in August 2000 these were removed and the accuracy of readings improved from around 10-100metres down to what is now about 1-3 metres from my observations.
Position co-ordinate systems
There are quite a few alternatives provided as standard – Ordnance ...
I dont have a 20 channel receiver however I do have a 12 channel receiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes.
The GPS receiver looks identical to the 20 channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong.
It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge! It does link ...
