I have read the book by Kathryn Wesley (available from amazon), seen the TV series and bought the DVD (also available from amazon).

First, let's look at the TV series/DVD. The introduction to 10th Kingdom is beautiful, a masterpiece of CGI. Modern New York is transformed into castles and forests before your eyes, accompanied by a powerful song.

The soundtrack throughout the film is fitting and beautiful and can be purchased from amazon. There is a wide variety of music, from the menacing 'Trolls In New York' to the beautiful harp music of 'Kissing Town'.

The storyline (excuse spoliers) is about a girl named Virginia and her father travelling to another world - where all the fairytales you heard when you were young are real. There's Snow White, Cinderella and many more.

One problem - the kingdoms are being overtaken by the evil troll king and the wicked step-mother - the very one that poisoned Snow White.

The storyline follows Virginia through the 9 kingdoms (the 10th being our world) as she uncovers the devilish plots in the kingdoms and in her own past.

The ending is gripping and emotional, but a brilliant climax to the series. I say no more :)

If you can put aside your prejudices about fairytales and this being a little childish, you will thoroughly enjoy both DVD and book. It takes a modern spin on the tales by placing them in a life like situation.

Often humorous (e.g. the scene with the frogs and the doors) and always enchanting, an epic tale of love, good and evil. Would recommend to anyone young at heart, or just those who love a good story.
