This is a bible for anyone wishing to pursue far in the sport of Judo. Whilst the book also covers items not usually taught in most Judo clubs it is technically very superior to most judokas (participants). The book covers the basics as well as Kodokan techniques that are no longer used in the sport. Having studied Judo for the past twenty years I still use this as a refferance book for studies and lesson plans. If I have any critisism it is that it does not cover the Katas of Judo but then again there are other books that cover this subject so I am just being picky .

Contents.
The Essence of Judo
Nage-waza (Throws)
Osaekomi-waza (Hold Downs)
Ude-kansetsu-waza (Armlocks)
Ashi-kansetsu-waza (Leglocks)
Kubi-kansetsu-waza (Spinelocks)
Kotewaza (Wrist-Locks)
Shime-waza (Strangles)
The Official Technique List of the
International Judo Federation
Refereeing Terminology
Japanese Pronunciation

There are vast technicalities for each of the subjects covered and some of these are either in modern use or in Japanese tradition. The likes of Mifune and others in what we in the sport call Legends are noted and given credit. Some techniques are now illegal in the sport and these are shown but with the adequate warnings to ensure that these are used for learning and not for use in competition.

So if you wish to proceed between the white start belt and the Dan grades (Black Belts) this must in you library of educational books and believe me you will refer to it for a very long time.
