Advantages: Fun, funny, great drawings, good gimics Disadvantages: Americal terms and spelling could confuse, but not very much!
...~~~Enter the World of CaptainUnderpants~~~
This is the 6th 'epic novel' in the CaptainUnderpants series from author and illustrator, DavPilkey. if you are not familiar with the series, then firstly YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'VE BEEN MISSING, and secondly, I'd like to introduce you to this crazy world through this review, but any of the books in the series of 10 will do the same job.
From the title of this book you have probably deduced that this book:
a) appeals to young boys (all that talk of battles and bionic baddies)
b) is hilariously irreverent (all that talk of snot and pants)
c) is American (for 'booger' read 'bogey')
And you would be right!!!
You may have also jumped to the conclusion that this is not going to be education in any way shape or form, but this time, surprising as it may seem, you would be wide of the mark...

Advantages: an excellent bedtime read. Disadvantages: might delay getting dressed in the morning
...My children adore this simple and very funny book. A Richard and Judy Book club winner for the 5+ age range, the language is aimed at the older end of picture book readers but is actually a fabulous story for any age group. The illustration is bright, fun and contemporary.
The story is told in verse, with some giggle-tastic invented words for children to adopt into their own vocabulary. Apparently, Aliens are huge fans of Human undercrackers. They even read underpants devoted magazines and have constructed statues to idolize knickers. Soon they are on their way to earth to seek out some underpants for themselves.
Beware, your children might insist on inspecting their pants before putting them on after reading this book!
The story is easy to understand and appeals to children of all ages (mine are two and four)...

...Captains Glory.
Author - William Shatner.
This is the 3rd instalment in the 'Totality' trilogy. It's actually not bad. Having not read the first 2 books didn't matter as there are some references to the earlier books but this novel stands quite well on its own as is the Star Trek ilk.
Synopsis,
The civil war on Romulus has been stopped and Kirk can now search for the truth behind the death of his friend, Spock.
Kirk believes Spock to have been assassinated by the Totality.
But what is the totality? A secret organisation? Or something far more terrifying? And what does the totality have to do with his son, Joseph, and how is it influencing him?
Before Kirk can answer these questions he needs a starship. As luck would have it, an offer from Starfleet gifts him with the starship that he needs. But their conditions are that they can...
