Manufacturer's product description
The most remarkable thing that happened to the world economy after 9/11 was ...nothing. What would have once meant a crippling shock to the system was absorbed astonishingly quickly, partly due to the efforts of the then Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, Alan Greenspan. The post 9/11 global economy is a new and turbulent system - vastly more flexible, resilient, open, self-directing, and fast-changing than it was even twenty years ago. "The Age of Turbulence" is an incomparable reckoning with the nature of this new world - how we got here, what we're living through, and what lies over the horizon, for good or ill, channelled through Greenspan's own experiences working in the command room of the global economy for longer and with greater effect than any other single living figure. He will share the story of his life to convey to readers the full flavour of the extraordinary years he has experienced and shaped, taking full measure of the individuals who made strong impressions on him, including every US President from Nixon to George W. Bush, and Prime Ministers Thatcher and Blair, and the great crises and challenges that they faced. His other goal is to draw readers along the same learning curve he followed, so they have a grasp of his own clear-sighted and hard-won understanding of the dynamics that drive world events. The distillation of a life's worth of wisdom and insight into an elegant expression of a coherent worldview, "The Age of Turbulence" will stand as Alan Greenspan's personal and intellectual legacy. Advantages: Heartwarming easy read , gentle style with some quirky and funny moments . Disadvantages: May be dull to some .
...all , his memory may play tricks on him occasionally . In this case what he perceives as a particular episode could be viewed differently by someone else who was there at the time . Having said that however ,all books would just express the best parts of any instance or anecdote, or else they would be boring . It does feel like an honest representation of his early years .
The book is 320 pages long and has the odd sketch scattered throughout which are Alan's own work . There are eight pages of photographs in the middle similar to those most of us from the 50's must have lurking around somewhere . These black and white shots are so expressive of the era . One of Alanaged two with his Mum and a rather fierce looking Grandma Titch and Auntie Alice could have jumped from our family photo album . I always feel so many of these photos from...

Advantages: GREAT AUTHOR Disadvantages: SO MUCH TO READ !
...The following information has been garnered from blurbs and includes my own very personal views on some of Alans books, read on Mcduff….,
Alan dean foster was born in New York city in 1946 and was raised in Los Angeles. After receiving a bachelor's degree in political science and a master of fine arts in cinema from ucla (1968, l969) he spent two years as a copywriter for a small studio city, California.
His writing career began when August Derleth bought a long Lovecraftian letter of Alans in 1968 and much to Alans surprise, published it as a short story in Derleth's bi-annual magazine "the Arkham Collector". Sales of short fiction to other magazines followed.
His first attempt at a novel, the Tar-Aiym Krang, (has spawned a popular series of Pip and Flinx adventure sequels, at the time of writing this, 13 Pip and Flinx novels...

Advantages: A Brilliant read Disadvantages: There are none
...I have always like Jordan, even though most of my friends didnt. She gets so much flak from journalists, paparazzi etc that she doesn't derserve. I challenge anyone who has taken a dislike to Katie to read her books - they will soon change their minds.
This book gives us a real insight into her life before she came Britians top glamour model. She reveals the full stories behind her turbulent youth, her traumatic relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke, her heartbreak over a top Formula One driver and her battle to cope with her son's blindness and diabetes, and her own fight against cancer. It has a small chapter about meeting Peter in the jungle at the end as well - which makes you want to rush out & get "A whole newworld".
I read this book in 3 days. It was so interesting I couldn't put it down.
I'd recommend this book...
