I had put this put on my university application and said I admired Plath's work: without reading any! Before my interview I desperately read the Bell Jar: on the bus, train, bed. I thought it'd be torture having attempted previously but gave up (thought it was dry and boring. Didn’t’ get it). 2nd time round I was surprised, in a good way. It actually made sense: no I'm not suicidal. It interested me, not in an entertainment sense, but psychologically. Try it: give it a chance. It’s worth it!
Storyline: It tells of the break down of an American girl's sanity. Esther goes through the normal events of any young woman's life, and also experiences extaordinary events where she is thinking extraordinary thoughts.
Sorry for the low rating, but you really need to give more detail on what the book is about and how it made you feel in order to give the potential reader an idea if they might like the book or not. polly xxx
