Recently when I was in our local Hospital for a tour of the Combined Labs, I stopped off at the Body Shop which is in the building. Rather, my friend went to buy something and I had a look. She was offered 20% off with the production of the ID as she is a Nurse. I was far too stingy, considering that if I bought anything (which I couldn`t as I had no money), I was bound to be able to buy it cheaper on Ebay. Anyway, you know how it is, when you are trying to look occupied when someone else is buying something, testers prove to be really interesting. Being a fan of silky soft skin, I was lured by the body butters and after testing several, I was hooked.

The Body Shop, Body Butter.

The Body Shop has shops all over the Country. The appealing thing about The Body Shop is, they do not agree to animal testing, making it appealing to many. Their products also have lots of natural scents rather than being manufactured. The body butter range is an example of this, so many lovely different aromas.

The Body Shop has a website www.the bodyshopinternational.com.

The Body Butters are available in 200ml sizes and 50ml sizes. They are in a small round pot, the lid screws off making it easy to access the body butter.

The 200ml was £12 and the 50ml was £4. I thought this was quite expensive, but then it is worth paying more if not tested on animals and for a quality product.

Testers.

I was in heaven testing the body butters. I know I am reviewing the Almond, but I just wanted to compare and contrast. The first one that I tried was the Pink Grapefruit. This one was quite nice, but was not overly thick, not how I would describe butter. Next I tried the Almond. Now this was more like it, thick and buttery. I tested several of them and ended up on the tour smelling like the Body Shop, but my hands felt good.

Almond Body Butter.

The Almond Body Butter smells like Almonds, it contains Almond Oil and Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter. It contains a number of other ingredients, indicating that it may not be completely `natural` but at least it is not tested on animals.

At first glance the Almond Body Butter is cream in colour and is set and thick giving the appearance of butter, not margarine, butter. It looks very inviting and makes you want to rub it all over your body. It is set, mine arrived in the post and you could see that it had set when not flat. This is great in my opinion as it makes it different from other body moisturisers. To me, it just looks as if it will moisturise more.

The Almond Body Butter is formulated for normal/dry skin. It is suposed to offer 24 hour hydration for your skin.

I opened it. Mmmm, delicious smell of Almonds. I rubbed some in. Fantastic. Feels nice on skin, is absorbed really easily and offers instant moisture. I loved it. It really is nice. It leaves the skin slightly shiney. I applied it for a few nights, my legs felt almost greasy, not too greasy might I add, it just felt that the moisture had really lasted and I didn`t need to use it as frequently as other body moiturisers. It really does do as it says and provide 24 hour moisture, more if anything.

I am never going to buy handcream again, that is, once I have used up the 6 tubes I have lying aroud the house. My hands feel so good. A little bit is all it needs, it rubs into the hands so well, they feel fantastic, soft and smooth, though slightly shiney.

Not recommended for the face - well, nobody with any sense would put it on their face, would they? Well, my face was feeling really dry which I was able to attribute to using toner which was too harsh for my skin type. To speed the process along, I decided to use some body butter. It did make my face less dry, but it also left me with a spot, too rich for the face.

Other Flavours.
* * * * * * * * * * *

I can`t do anything by halves, I ended up buying 7 Body Butters in all. The Almond it lovely but I would by lying if I said it were my favourite, just one of them. There are so many nice flavours, it is a shame to stick to just one. I still have many more to try, but I may wait until I have used one or two first.

The Almond is lovely and is for normal to dry skin.
The Cocoa is fabulous and is for very dry skin.
The Coconut makes you think of tropical shores and is for normal to dry skin.
The grapeseed is for normal skin and is slightly green in colour, the scent is not overpowering.
The vitamin E is slightly pink, smells of hand cream and is suitable for all skin types.
The Hemp has a distinctive smell, not by favourite but it is suitable for dry to extremely dry skin so has excellent moisturising properties. A work colleague was able to tell me that I was wearing hemp due to the smell.
The Passion Fruit is slightly mauve in colour and just divine.

I can`t wait to try them all but I can`t wear them all at once, the Almond has had the most frequent use.

There are still more that I am itching to try:-

I have ordered my Mum Soya for Mothers day, so I will have to have a look at that.
I must try the Banana, though I am not sure that I would like to go around smelling of bananas.
The Brazil Nut was lovely and thick though again, I am not sure that I want to smell of Brazil Nuts.
I have got to try Blueberry, it just looks so nice.
Cranberry is another that I need to try.
There is also a melon seed, may have to look at.

Offhand I can`t think of any more, but can you agree with me how addictive it is?

Uses.
* * * * *

I have both sizes of the Body Shop Body Butter at home. The 200ml is the most economical and lasts the longest (obviously). The 50ml size is very handy indeed. I take it to work instead of handcream, it really is very useful. If I have any dry skin, I just dab a tiny bit on. My nose felt a bit itchy, so I put a minute amount on, people then commented on my shiney nose!

My hands have never felt so good.

The intended purpose of the Body Butter is for the Body. It feels luxurious after a bath or shower, but leaves the skin really hydrated, so doesn`t need to be used every time.

It will take me a while to get throgh my Body Butters, but when I do, I will buy the Almond again, along with several others.

The Body Shop Body Butter may be slightly expensive, but it certainly is good for the skin and to me, is now essential.
