The Body Shop Aloe Calming Facial Cleanser > Reviews (3)

I've always been a fan of the aloe Vera range from the Body Shop, especially when it comes to my face. I find the moisturisers suit my skin really well, so when I was last restocking I decided to try some of the face washes to complete my set.
Not being a fan of foaming face washes, I chose the facial cleanser which works in the same way, but they are slightly gentler on my skin as they don't seem to leave my skin feeling so tight after use.
The aloe Vera face cleanser actually describes itself as being just that, leaving your skin soothes and refreshed after removing impurities and dirt. Sounded good and at £6.50 for 200ml it's on par with others I have been buying lately so well worth a try.

Being a cleanser, the product is packaged slightly differently in a bottle with lid at the top, rather than lid at the base. I think they can get away with this because the bottle has slight movement in it to enable it to be squeezed when needed to remove the contents.
The aloe range is all a pale green to match the leaves of the aloe plant. There isn't anything fancy about the packaging at all, but it fits in well with the range. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't see the level of the product left through the bottle, even when holding it up to the light, so I will have to rely on testing the amount left by the weight of the bottle.

I usually use a facial cleanser by making my face wet, applying an amount to my face and massaging, before removing with a damp flannel. This way works well for me when using a cream cleanser and means I don't have to contend with product in my eyes.
The cleanser is a fairly thick consistency and I worked out quickly that you don't actually need a lot to cover your face. It's a lot thicker than the Soap and Glory facial cleanser I was using before, meaning this will last a lot longer, making it better value for money.
It doesn't smell of anything particular, but this isn't a bad thing as natural products are better for your skin. It contains aloe Vera obviously which is known for its soothing and moisturising properties, as well as sorbitol which is designed to help the skin retain its moisture. The product as a whole is best suited to sensitive skin so it will suit my skin perfectly.

After a few uses of this, I wasn't finding that it was leaving my skin any softer or fresher than if I was just using water to wash with. This was a shame as my last Soap and Glory cleanser left a nice red glow after a few uses on my skin, doing exactly what it said on the bottle.
I have lots of this bottle left and I'll continue to use it, but I don't feel it does anything special or worth me buying it again even if it does go with my moisturisers which is a shame.
I also find that in a cold bathroom, you have to shake the bottle and squeeze it to get any contents out as I think the cleanser may settle slightly in the cold.
