Exfoliating is a necessary part of every girl's beauty regime, and there is a multitude of ways to gets that scrubbing done! As well as using exfoliating body scrubs and washes, I have recently begun to use exfoliating gloves. These gloves were introduced to me by my other half who absolutely swears by them. They are available from The Body Shop stores on the high street, or online at www.thebodyshop.co.uk and cost £4.00 for a pair.
The gloves are made of 100% nylon and have a plain traditional design. They come in a variety of colours including aqua, coral pink, cream, lilac, orange, pink, and white. I have the lilac ones which are a deep shade of purple and look very pretty for such a boring and functional item! The cuff at the wrists has a ribbed section so that they fit closely and don't roll or fall down. They also have small loops at the end so that you can hang them up easily to drip dry and store them out of the way.
Exfoliating removes dead skin cells leaving your skin refreshed and looking healthy, as well as smoothing the surface and boosting circulation. Exfoliating gloves can be used in the bath or shower, I find it easiest to get the gloves wet before I put them over my hands as this allows the fabric to stretch more easily. Once the gloves are on and wet, add a dollop of shower gel or body wash into the palm of your hand and rub the gloves together to create a light foam. Then, using your hands, rub over your skin in gentle circular motions. This will cleanse and exfoliate your skin at the same time, and is a perfect way to get healthy looking skin while saving time as well.
The Body Shop say: "A pair of exfoliating gloves to increase the lather of your body wash and remove dead skin cells, leaving skin feeling soft and smooth. Available in various colours to complement The Body Shop Bath & Body and Women's Fragrance ranges."
I've had extremely good results from using these gloves, they are an easy way to exfoliate and give a thorough and effective scrub. The gloves can feel very abrasive even when wet and my skin looks glowing and smooth after I've used them. I don't have any sensitivities so my tough skin can handle it, but this may be too rough for some people. I get a few patches of dry and calloused skin appear occasionally, especially on my feet, and I sometimes feel that I need something that will give a stronger scrub and these gloves fit the bill. It's much easier than using a pumice stone! I have tried using the gloves in combination with other exfoliating products such as body scrubs, but the scrub particles seem to soak into the fabric of the gloves and I don't get any extra benefit. This definitely works best with an ordinary shower gel and creates a lot of bubbly foam to cleanse the skin at the same time as buffing it.
The gloves fit nicely and are tight enough to my hands to give a good grip and allow me to use them easily without any saggy areas or fear of them falling off. The weave of the fabric has seemed to stretch over time though, and they got very baggy in some places. The fabric does seem to be getting weaker and not holding its shape as well, but they still have the same good exfoliating power even after many months of use.
Overall I think that exfoliating gloves are a fantastic product and I am very happy with the way these gloves have performed. They give a very strong exfoliation and save money on buying separate body scrubs as you can just use your normal shower gel. This also means there is one less step to be completed in the beauty regime, so it saves you time as well. A bargain buy that lasts for ages and has great benefits to your skin.
Summary: This is a great addition to your bath-time cleansing regime
