I read about a blackhead remover on Dooyoo a while back, and was intrigued by the concept, but thought no more of it until I was browsing in a Body Shop store and saw this one for sale. At only £3 I felt it was a bargain - even more so when I used my Body Shop card and got an extra 10% off.
The product is a metal strip around 10cm long with the Body Shop brand name printed on it. It has one oval loop of metal at one end, and a larger loop at the other. It comes attached to a strip of plastic with the following instructions: "Before use, soften your skin and open pores with a warm flannel. Carefully position the end of the remover over the blackhead and apply gentle pressure".The first time I used it I tried to remove blackheads from my nose, and it didn't go too well. It's really hard to apply pressure to your nose, the nose tends to move about a bit! I couldn't really get anything out either (sorry for the rather disgusting imagery!). However, I used it again after using a face mask and having a bath in the hope that the steam would open my pores.
To use, you apply one end of the tool to the spot (choose the end based on how big the spot is), and press down gently. The spot should hopefully respond to the pressure by releasing whatever gunk happens to be inside it. Although it's designed for blackheads, I thought it worked especially well for normal spots and whiteheads, although it was of limited effectiveness for blackheads. It certainly got *something* out, although, and my nose looked a bit better, but not amazingly so. To be honest though, I wonder if the problem on my nose is large pores rather than blackheads per se, in which case the tool would not be of much use!So, this tool was not the miracle worker I had hoped for. In fairness, perhaps I was expecting too much. It's not without its uses, however, and is a much more hygienic solution to squeezing spots than using your fingers. I can't recommend this product unreservedly, but I don't regret buying it.
