*** What's so good about The Body Shop? ***
Anita and Gordon Roddick launched the Body Shop in 1979 with a single store. It has since gone from strength to strength to become a key player in beauty products around the world. It is perhaps better known for its values such as not using animals ... ...around the world who supply accessories and natural ingredients.
*** Why should I use eye make up remover? Can't I just wash my face? ***
NO! Your eyes are one of the most sensitive parts of the body. If you treat them well, they will serve you well. Wash your face with soap removes any moisture, leaving your skin feeling dry. Imagine what this would do to your eyes, it would probably sting rather badly too.
I've tried lots of different eye make up removers and they either don't remove everything, leaving you looking like something out of Kiss, or are so greasy that you need to wash your face after using. Not the camomile eye make-up remover. I began using this product 3 years ago, and now I wouldn't be without it!
*** What's so good about The Body Shop? *** Anita and Gordon Roddick launched the Body Shop in 1979 with a single store. It has since gone from strength to strength to become a key player in beauty products around the world. It is perhaps better known for its values such as not using animals to test products. Other values include supporting smaller producer communities around the world who supply accessories and natural ingredients.

***So what makes it so good*** Its main ingredient is organic camomile essential oil, community traded from farmers in Norfolk. This is said to have a calming and soothing effect. It also contains refreshing rose water and moisturising vegetable glycerin. Combined, these ingredients break down the make up particles, even waterproof mascara, to gently and effectively remove eye make-up and condition the lashes leaving them soft and silky, while minimising the appearance of puffiness. It is particularly good for sensitive skin, as it is colour and fragrance free. As I noted at the start, the reason why I love this so much is because it is oil free! The solution itself is just like water, and smells a little like the solution bubbles are made from!
***Community Traded?*** Community trade is the Body Shops form of fair trade. It basically purchases ingredients from under-privileged communities at a fair price to help improve their way of life, and not rip them off like other companies do. The camomile for this product comes from a farm in Norfolk to help support the smaller farmers. The farmers were facing increasing difficulties earning a livelihood from traditional crops, until in 1997 they diversified into essential oil production. When buying one of the camomile products, it helps keep this going.
*** You must have to use tons of tissue*** Not unless you're Kat Slater! It's very simple to use. Squeeze a small amount onto a cotton pad (you can use tissue although I find this too rough for my eyes) and brush your eyelid from the corner of the nose outwards. Try not to use circular motions as this can irritate the eyelid. Repeat until the makeup has disappeared. You won't have to rub too hard as the solution works almost instantly. Even if you do rub hard, it will never sting your eyes. Always use before going to sleep as this will prevent the make-up will not be absorbed by your skin overnight, clogging pores and causing spots. For maximum effect, implement a skin regime. Cleanse (clean the skin) tone/freshen (get rid of the last traces of dirt), use the make-up remover and moisturise the skin.
*** I bet I have to dig deep into my pockets for one of these *** A bottle of 250ml will set you back £5.50. Although it seems expensive in comparison with other brands, this really will last you months. I've had mine for 6 months as I don't wear eye make up very often, maybe twice a week, and I'm only half way through. In any case, you only have to use a very small amount as the great thing about Body Shop products is that they have a 2 year shelf life (3 years if unopened).
*** That's all well and good but does it look pretty? *** Of course. It is packaged in a plain white plastic bottle with a green label and white writing. The writing tells you the product ingredients, how to use, and of course sports the infamous Body Shop label. The great thing about the Body Shop is that makes the bottles from recyclable plastic, which you can drop in store when finished and receive 10% off your next purchase. The bottle itself has a white/black flip lid emblazoned with the Body Shop logo. You simply have to squeeze very gently and the liquid will flow very easily. Squeeze too hard and you'll end up soaking!
*** Surely there must be some criticism? *** Indeed. My only concern is that the 250ml size is not ideal for travelling, as it is quite bulky, and you just don't need to take all of it with you. Unfortunately, they do not sell the travel size separate anymore, only with an eye care gift set which is around £7.50. What I do is decant it into a smaller travel size bottle (60ml) that you can buy from the Body Shop for 25p.
***Sounds great! But I'm not too keen on the liquid eye make up removers *** In that case you can buy the gel version. It contains the same ingredients as the liquid version, only it is thickened into a gel like substance that melts as you wipe it across the eyes. It is to be used in the same way as the liquid, and costs £5.00 for 200ml, so you get better value for money with the liquid version, although the gel is a lot handier for travelling. I personally prefer the liquid, as I found the gel actually stung a little.
***Sounds great! What other products are there in the range? *** Once you have removed your make-up, if you're eyes are feeling puffy or you need a moisture boost, try the camomile moisturising eye supplement. It is an eye moisturiser containing similar ingredients as the make up remover with the addition of glycerin for extra moisturisation. This is £6.50 for 25ml.
Or if you're bored of the camomile range, try the Unperfumed Elderflower Eye Gel . A brilliant cooling gel to instantly refresh and lightly moisturise the delicate skin around the eyes. It contains extracts of elderflower and witch hazel to revitalise and soothe the eye area. Like the camomile eye make up remover, it also contains vegetable glycerin provides light moisturisation for the delicate skin around the eyes. A bargain at £4.50 for 15ml and one of the Body Shops best selling eye cream.
***And what's your final thought? *** To conclude, the camomile eye make up remover is a great product that has a firm place on my bathroom shelf. It is extremely good value for money, easy to use, and more important does the job with style! Bravo! However, in order to improve, a smaller less bulky size would be more appropriate for travelling/keeping in your make up bag for overnight stays. Or it would be handy if the Body Shop could produce wipes in this range.
***I'm sold! Where can I find more information on the Body Shop?*** For the latest products and shop locator see:

...Eye Make-up Remover. Over the years I have tried a variety of different lotions and potions to remove my eye-makeup. I have yet to find a cream that doesn't make me cry or a gel that doesn't make my face smart. I really didn't think it was much to ask to find something that doesn't sting or make you feel like you've just been poked in the eye with a sharp stick.

Their Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up Remover retails at £5.50 for 250ml. Although this may seem expensive, a bottle this size will last you at least six months - if not longer, as you don't need to use a great deal to remove your make up quickly ...

...aware for some time that the skin around the eyes is delicate and should be treated with care, although I have to put my hand up and admit to rubbing away at my make-up each night with my regular cleanser on a cotton wool pad for the last few years. Well as I am now well into my thirties and I am sure there seem to be new fine lines appearing around my eyes daily, I decided it was time for a change.

Advantages: effectively cleanses and soothes eye area, conditions lashes Disadvantages: doesn't particularly moisturise delicate eye area, can sting at times
The Body Shop are good to your skin. Even my sensitive skin.
Which is why i decided to try their make-up remover. Camomile is renowned for its gentle soothing and cleansing properties, and as the area around the eye is particularly sensitive and delicate, these are properties which will care for it. The product also contains 'refreshing rose water' and 'moisturising vegetable glycerin'.
As per usual, the product comes packaged in the Body Shop's ... ...we?
I always give the bottle a little shake before opening it - i dunno why cos it doesnt say to do this, but i figure perhaps some of the moisturising ingredients might have settled between usage so......yeah.
Upon applying the product with a cotton wool pad, my skin immediately feels cleansed and soothed. It's easy to apply, no mess and you don't have to use loads of cotton wool or whatever. However, soon after my skin begins to feel slightly ...

Advantages: Removes eye make-up flawlessly and soothes eyes Disadvantages: Doesn't work very well as a general make-up remover
...say that this is possibly the best eye make-up remover available. It is about £5 for 250ml, which is fairly good value, especially as it is so effective and only a small amount is needed! I tend to need an eye make-up remover that completely removes any eye make-up from either the night, or the night before! I also don't like my eye make-up removers being overly greasy as I sometimes need to dip a cotton wool bud into the bottle and dab it underneath ... ...perfect for this purpose.
The eye make-up remover is also good for removing heavy eye make-up, which I was quite surprised about, as most non greasy eye make-up removers do not tend to do a very good job with this. Another advantage is that it is very soothing when removing heavy eye make-up, as it contains camomile, which is very soothing in all capacities. It is also particularly good for contact lense users, as obviously, the lenses have to be ...
