Last week, I was determined to visit Lush after reading many reviews and realising I hadn't treated myself to anything for a long time. Treking to my nearest store which isn't too far from me, but a long walk from the car park, I found the store to be shut when I got there. As you can imagine I wasn't best pleased as I had set my heart on pampering myself. However as I was wandering around town, the little old lightbulb in my head lit up and I remembered the Body Shop. This is another shop I haven't been in for ages, and even less so since discovering Lush. Being a typical shopper, I spent ages browsing the shelves, trying out most of the testers. I do admit to having a soft spot for the Body Butter range, but I never end up buying any. On this occasion, the coconut body butter grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go until I had picked up at pot, albeit a small pot and purchased it at the till.
*COST*
My 50ml pot cost me £4, but there are also 200ml pots available for around the £10 mark. Personally I nearly had a heart attack at the price, but this was a self indulgence shop, and I hoped it would last me a while.
*PACKAGING*
The packaging of the Body Butter range reflect on the "flavour" of the butter. My coconut one is in a deep brown screw lid pot with the label consisting of a design with the inner part of the coconut on it. I have found the pot to be very durable and doesn't get messy and sticky with use of the product.
*SMELL*
Upon opening the butter, the waft of coconut is very strong, and I would say if you are not a lover of coconut, then this will not be for you. Luckily for me I do like the smell, and it's very moreish on the nostrils.
*PRODUCT*
The body butter range is available for different skin types with the coconut being for normal to dry skin. It looks like a thick creamy vanilla ice cream. I'm sure it should have a non edible warning on the pot! To the first touch, it appears quite slimy, but has a very thick consistency. I wasn't sure how long this was going to last as it was giving me the impression that I was going to need quite a lot for each application. Thankfully I was proved wrong after my first encounter. As this is probably best used after a bath when you're nice and clean, I waited until the evening to truly pamper myself.
*APPLICATION*
Scooping a bit up in my fingers, I dotted the butter onto my legs to begin with. My skin almost drank this as fast as I drink a glass of wine. Massaging it into my skin, I found the product to be fairly greasy on my hands, and felt quite strange on my legs. It adapted better to the rest of my body however. The greasiness didn't last long as it sank into my skin. I had used a fair bit on my first application but with the smell I was getting from my body, it was definately worth it.
*AFTER*
The aroma on me lasted for a long time, and was vaguely still there in the morning. I did find it to be quite overpowering to start with, but this could have been due to the fact I used a lot, as the following times I have used it, it has been fairly subtle. My body felt quite strange for the first half an hour or so after aplication, but I was pleasently surprised at the softness on my skin, especially my legs long after applying the butter. I definately get the feel good factor from using this, so in my opinion its well worth the money.
*WHAT GOES INTO IT*
The Body Shop operate a fair trade policy (more info on that visit their website at www.uk.thebodyshop.com), and the cocoa beans used in this product were from Ghana, with the product itself being made in the UK.
*RECCOMEND*
I will definately buy this when I run out, but I'm convinced this will last me a couple of months if I use it after every application. I think that was the beauty of getting the smaller pot to begin with on a new product as you get a chance to make sure whether it's really for you or not without wasting too much money.
Advantages: smooth, silky, moisturised, great looking skin. lovely smell! Disadvantages: expensive, doesn't last long, only available in the Body Shop
...a friend, and complaining about the dry patch to her. Her friend produced a big tub of cream, let her rub a little bit into the dry patch, and just like magic, the dryness was gone. When the dry patch hadn’t re-appeared four days later, my sister dragged me into the Body Shop to buy some of this miracle cream. The cream was called ‘Body Butter’.

Body Butters come in loads of different fragrances, including brazil nut, grape, melon, blueberry and coconut. That particular day, my sister chose Blueberry. I, however, was not impressed. Despite huge recommendations from my sister, I decided that £10 was far too much to pay for a little tub of moisturiser without some hard evidence that it was actually any good (it was ...

...of my favourite products from The Body Shop and also one of the most popular products they sell according to their figures! There has to be a reason why so many people love it!
The Body Shop is well known for their body butters, and with good reason, these products are jam packed with moisturising ingredients and there is a scent for everyone's tastes.

The butter itself is a cream colour, certainly not white. This butter is set to the point that a new tub will still have a little nodule on the top where the pouring stopped. On the surface (when new) you can see the oil, only just, not like an oil slick or in a bad way.
This comes highly scented, this has a gorgeous fragrance and is, as you would expect, coconut, nothing else! This is sweet coconut rather than dry and ...

...to mention I don't get the time to pamper myself very often! But when I received a free 50ml pot of The Body Shop's Coconut Body Butter with my copy of Marie Claire this month, I thought it'd be worth a try as it didn't cost me anything, and to be honest, it smelt gorgeous!

...needed pampering (bless him!). The gift pack included, Coconut Bath and shower cream, coconut body scrub, and lovely body polisher and of course, coconut body butter. At first I was a little wary of the body butter, as I often feel "gresy" once I have used body lotions and moisturisers, so I started off with a tiny amount of this product and did what it says on the tin! Here's the results!

...me will realise these are the things I adore, lots of lovely, bright beautiful smelly things.
As part of a gift I received a 200ml pot of Coconut Body Butter by The Body Shop, now for those of you who don’t already know they just happen to be my very favourite retailers, well for a start lots of their products are part of their Community Trade range, a program in which the general public will buy goods that have been made by smaller poverty ... ...are also very strict on the fact that none of their products are tested on animals and that most of their stuff (with a few exceptions) are of excellent quality although a little pricey at times but it’s easy to see how they gained the honour of being the Consumer Association’s 2nd most trusted brand in the whole of the UK back in 1999.
I think I have babbled on enough, now I hear you all shout what about the product then Heather???

Advantages: The smell stays on your body, but isn't overpowering. Disadvantages: None! It's great.
I've known the BodyShopbodybutters range smell nice, everytime I've been in The BodyShop I always like to sniff them, however I've never bought one before because I don't often use a body lotion as the skin on my body isn't particularly dry or anything. I recently got a free gift when I spent over £25 in the BodyShop and inside the gift was a free 50ml tub of the Strawberry BodyButter, so I finally own one!
This BodyButter comes in a lovely red screw top tub, and the top has a a label which shows a picture of stawberries, and it states it's meant for nomal skin. I know their other bodybutters can be aimed at other types of skin for example the CoconutBodyButter is aimed at dry skin.
As soon as you open this tub up the smell of strawberries hits you. It reminds me of strawberry yoghurt or milkshake and is nice and sweet ...
Advantages: The smell is gorgeous and lingers on your skin Disadvantages: Your family will try to nick it from you!
the ordinary soaps that you see in shops.
BodyShop also sells a variety of coconut products, including coconutbodybutter (which is gorgeous), coconutbody scrub, coconut showel gels and much more.
This is definately my favourite soap and I plan to buy more as soon as it runs out ...
Advantages: moisturising Disadvantages: doesn,t last as long as would like
I love the wide range of fragrances available in "BodyShop" bodybutters. The coconut is absolutly fabulous. One whiff and you are transported to paradise.. memories of beach holidays and happy days. My skin loves it and just soaks up the moisture which this cream just oozes. My only critism is it just doesn't last as long as I would like it to. You really need two tubs if you want it to last the life of the shower gel and body lotion.. perhaps I am just greedy. The other fragrances are great too .. Moringa is lovely a nice flowery scent it is a fairly new fragrance and well worth a try. The added bonus is of course these products are not tested on animals. ...
