Please don't eat it
Advantages smells lovely, moisturising really well
Disadvantages expensive
Last week, I was determined to visit Lush after reading many reviews and realising I hadn't treated myself to anything for a long time. Treking to my nearest store which isn't too far from me, but a long walk from the car park, I found the store to be shut when I got there.
As you can imagine I wasn't best pleased as I had set my heart on pampering myself. However as I was wandering around town, the little old lightbulb in my head lit up and I remembered the Body Shop. This is another shop I haven't been in for ages, and even less so since discovering Lush.
Being a typical shopper, I spent ages browsing the shelves, trying out most of the testers. I do admit to having a soft spot for the Body Butter range, but I never end up buying any. On this occasion, the coconut body butter grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go until I had picked up at pot, albeit a small pot and purchased it at the till.
My 50ml pot cost me £4, but there are also 200ml pots available for around the £10 mark. Personally I nearly had a heart attack at the price, but this was a self indulgence shop, and I hoped it would last me a while.
*PACKAGING*The packaging of the Body Butter range reflect on the "flavour" of the butter. My coconut one is in a deep brown screw lid pot with the label consisting of a design with the inner part of the coconut on it.
I have found the pot to be very durable and doesn't get messy and sticky with use of the product.
Upon opening the butter, the waft of coconut is very strong, and I would say if you are not a lover of coconut, then this will not be for you. Luckily for me I do like the smell, and it's very moreish on the nostrils.
*PRODUCT*The body butter range is available for different skin types with the coconut being for normal to dry skin. It looks like a thick creamy vanilla ice cream. I'm sure it should have a non edible warning on the pot!
To the first touch, it appears quite slimy, but has a very thick consistency. I wasn't sure how long this was going to last as it was giving me the impression that I was going to need quite a lot for each application. Thankfully I was proved wrong after my first encounter.
As this is probably best used after a bath when you're nice and clean, I waited until the evening to truly pamper myself.
Scooping a bit up in my fingers, I dotted the butter onto my legs to begin with. My skin almost drank this as fast as I drink a glass of wine. Massaging it into my skin, I found the product to be fairly greasy on my hands, and felt quite strange on my legs. It adapted better to the rest of my body however. The greasiness didn't last long as it sank into my skin.
I had used a fair bit on my first application but with the smell I was getting from my body, it was definately worth it.
The aroma on me lasted for a long time, and was vaguely still there in the morning. I did find it to be quite overpowering to start with, but this could have been due to the fact I used a lot, as the following times I have used it, it has been fairly subtle.
My body felt quite strange for the first half an hour or so after aplication, but I was pleasently surprised at the softness on my skin, especially my legs long after applying the butter.
I definately get the feel good factor from using this, so in my opinion its well worth the money.
The Body Shop operate a fair trade policy (more info on that visit their website at www.uk.thebodyshop.com), and the cocoa beans used in this product were from Ghana, with the product itself being made in the UK.
*RECCOMEND*I will definately buy this when I run out, but I'm convinced this will last me a couple of months if I use it after every application. I think that was the beauty of getting the smaller pot to begin with on a new product as you get a chance to make sure whether it's really for you or not without wasting too much money.

I love the body shop. I find that the best scrubs are generally the fruity 'flavoured' ones whilst the best butters are things like almond and cocoa. They smell so nice, but the greasiness takes ages to wear off on me. x x x

I've tried a couple of the other "flavours" but not this one, it sounds gorgeous though!
