A few months ago, I did a favour for a friend in need. Obviously this friend realised that I was also in need (of yummy smelly things) because she returned the favour by giving me a gift voucher for Body Shop. Off I dashed to town, eager to spend my voucher. WHAT IS IT? Juice It is a range of shower gels, body butters and body scrubs that come in a variety of yummy smells. Today, I will be reviewing the Mango shower gel.
PACKAGING: Sticking to the Body Shop ethic of using as little packaging and other materials as possible, the bottle is practical rather than pretty. The bottle itself is a simple clear plastic cylinder, with a black screw top. There is a see through sticker wrapped round almost the entire bottle, with a picture of a mango on the front plus product and company details. Although the bottle itself isn’t the most attractive, the fact that both bottle and label are see through means you can see the appealing looking product inside the bottle, so even though the packaging isn’t pretty, it is given a bit of a lift by the appeal of the contents. I was also impressed to note that the shower gel filled the bottle right to the base of the cap – no wasted packaging whatsoever.
APPEARANCE AND SMELL: Imagine cutting open a ripe mango, and seeing that gorgeous flesh, just turning from pale orange to a slightly reddish hue. If you can picture that colour, then you can picture the Juice It Mango shower gel. It looks delicious before you even open the bottle and smell it, a wonderful deep orange colour filled with tiny bubbles, which give the impression that it’s going to be light and airy and amazingly refreshing. As for the smell, I don’t think it’s possible to be too enthusiastic about it! Think back to that just cut ripe mango, and imagine the sweet, fruity smell of the juice oozing out of it. Then imagine squeezing that juice and bottling it. Because that is the exact smell that drifts out of the bottle once it is opened. Unlike a lot of shower gels, which only vaguely smell of what they’re meant to, this smells so much like mango you could close your eyes and believe you’re holding the real deal. There’s no nasty soapy whiff about this stuff, it’s pure fruity deliciousness! Without exaggerating, I can honestly say that the first time I smelt this, my mouth started to water, and I felt the urge for a huge summer fruit salad!
EASE OF USE: Couldn’t be simpler! The fact that the bottle has a screw top means there’s no fiddling around trying to get your nails under one of those pesky flip tops that shower gels manufacturers are so fond of (although I believe that Body Shop may since have changed to one of those pesky flip top lids.) Although the product doesn’t appear to be particularly thick inside the bottle it actually is. In fact, now I’m down to the last quarter of the bottle, I find that I often have to stand with it held upside down for up to 30 seconds waiting for it to come out. This thickness means that you can quite easily pour it into your hand and there won’t be any dribbles escaping between your fingers and forming a lethal slippery surface on the shower floor. The first time I used it I anticipated a problem getting it to lather up, but actually it lathers better than any other shower gel I’ve used, producing almost as much lather as shower gels designed specifically for that purpose, such as Imperial Leather Foam Burst. My only grumble, and it’s only a very tiny one, is that the cylindrical shape of the bottle makes it slightly hard to hold whilst screwing the lid back on, if you’ve gotten all lathered up. However, it’s such a little niggle that I won’t be holding it against it!
RESULTS: In a word – wonderful! The masses of foam easily rinse away to leave your skin feeling squeaky clean and beautifully smooth and soft. Used in the morning this is a very refreshing shower gel, it really gets me in the mood for the day ahead. The first time I used it I was a little disappointed once I had rinsed off, as the fabulous smell seemed to have completely vanished. However, once I had dried off it became very much in evidence once again, to the extent that I didn’t need to use any kind of body spray or perfume. If I use this in the morning, the smell will last for hours, being very noticeable for the first 3 or 4 when I smell wonderfully clean and fruity. The smell then gradually fades away, but faint traces can linger for hours. I’ve also found that it leaves anything I’ve worn smelling wonderfully clean and fresh, almost like it’s been dried outside in the summer sun – an added bonus! I’ve had several comments from work colleagues about the area round my desk smelling delicious after I’ve used this in the morning – what more could you possibly want?
VALUE FOR MONEY: Ah, value for money. Now, this is where it gets a little tricky, because actually this is an extremely expensive shower gel. My 300ml bottle would have cost me £5.00, had it not been free with another product. That puts it very firmly in the top end of the market for shower gels, and to be totally honest, if it wasn’t for the fact that it came free with another product, I don’t think even the wonderful smell would have persuaded me to part with my money. However, now I’ve used it I have to say that I’ve changed my mind on this issue. I’ve had this shower gel about 3 months now. Just after I bought it, I took it on holiday for a fortnight where it was used by myself, my other half (who grumbled constantly about smelling girly) and also 3 friends, because I was the only person who’d thought to bring shower gel with me. Since then it has been used on a 2 or 3 times a week basis, and yet there is still a quarter of a bottle left. The reason for this is the fact that it produces such an astounding amount of foam that you really only need a blob the size of a 10 pence piece to completely cover yourself from head to toe. So it lasts, and lasts, and lasts. I have frequently found that with cheaper shower gels, I often have to reapply them to my sponge halfway through my shower as the foam has run out. So taken in that context, actually this really is rather good value for money.
WHERE TO BUY: The only place I have ever seen this is, not surprisingly, in the Body Shop on high streets. There is a Body Shop website at www.bodyshop.com, but when I looked a couple of weeks ago the range of items you could buy online was extremely limited, and seemed to be confined mainly to gift boxes for Christmas.
OVERALL RATING: I think this a big thumbs up five out of five! It looks good, it smells great, it makes ME smell great, and although it’s a little pricey it lasts for months, even with regular use. It cleans and softens my skin at the same time, and leaves me feeling refreshed, wide-awake and fruity. I think Body Shop are spot on with this product, I’m definitely going to buy a lot more of it (in fact, I’ve already purchased a couple as small Xmas gifts for friends, don’t tell them!) and I’m also planning to try the rest of the range. If it’s anywhere near as delicious as the Mango, I’ll be more than happy. A definite must have, and a wonderful gift for anyone who loves fruity smells. Oh, and as an added bonus, my other half never fails to compliment me on my beautiful smell when I've used this, and that's always good for the ego :0)
Go on, treat yourselves, and many thanks for reading
...Shop shower gel which is the mango and peach shower gel in the juice it range. The reason I like it so much is that the smell is very suble. It is delicate and as you would expect smells like peach. The delicate scent means that you can wear a perfume of a different scent and the smells won't clash!! The consistancy is not to thick or too thin. it means that it is easy to lather but you do not end up with big blobs on the bottom of the shower, which ... ...I am still satisfied with the cleaning quality. I always feel fresh and clean (goodness I sound like an American toothpaste advert!!) The gel contains natural mango and echinacea which they claim will envigorate your senses. I am not sure whether this works. i find that stepping out of bed into the shower envigorates me anyway!! The last time that I bought the shower gel it cost £2 for a 250ml bottle but I think this was due to the fact that the ...

Advantages: Delicious fragrance, helps exfoliate the skin Disadvantages: Difficult to use with a sponge (see opinion)
Juice It is the name of a range of products within The Body Shop. This particular item I am reviewing is the Juice It Strawberry & Red Berries Exfoliating Body Scrub.
According to the tube this body scrub is:
"a blend of natural juices, powdered walnut shell & rosehip oil to polish and smooth your skin".
The product comes in a squeezy tube, containing 150ml of the gel. The tube is tinted pink towards the top but becomes transparent towards the ... ...The tube stands upright on its black flip top lid. In contrast to the typical plain packaging of Body Shop products, the Juice It range of products have slightly different labels in that they show pictures of the fruits contained in them on the label, as opposed to the majority of Body Shop products which have a fairly plain label with only the product details and logo on.
The gel itself has the consistency of a typical shower gel, though obviously ...

Advantages: Smells gorgeous Disadvantages: You might want to eat it
I first came across the Juice It range when i recieved a gift set from a friend at Christmas. The set looked really nice, good quality, and expensive, and consisted of a lovely gift box containing Juice It Strawberry and Red Berries Exfoliating Body Scrub, Juice It Mango and Peach Bath and Shower Gel, Juice It Orange Soap, and a Shower Puff. The set looked really nice, good quality, and expensive.

The packaging is very nice, in bright colours, to correspond with the scent of each item, and pictures of the fruits on the front. The writing on the front of the bottles is very clear and easy to read, and all the information you could need about the product is there, including what the product does, and how to use it.

...been a big fan of the Body Shop products as when I was younger (so much younger than today!) I used to suffer with eczema and very few products were suitable for my highly sensitive skin. The blurb on the packaging states that it is "a blend of natural juices, powdered walnut shell & rosehip oil to polish and smooth your skin". ...always been a fan of the body shop products especially as they do not test any of their products on animals.
The juice it exfoliating body scrub comes in different ranges:
Strawberry and red berries

Application of using this product is simple you can use sponge, puff or just by hand, I personally prefer to use a puff as I feel you get more lather and it massages well into the skin, thus giving it a deeper clean.
The price of the 150ml tube ...

actually had a say for once in what freebies I was sent and then awaited its arrival. I must stop and reflect for a moment upon how sad my existence has become that I actually eagerly awaited receiving a free sachet of shower gel through the post. The event of which was most likely to be the highlight of that particular day. I didn?t, however, time how long it took to land through my letterbox. I?m not THAT bad. Yet. But suffice to say it didn?t take very long at all.
So, once it did arrive did I rush armed up to the bathroom immediately and run a shower so I could put its powers of cleansing to the test? Erm..no. I couldn?t be bothered in the end. And then I forgot all about it as it was left hidden amongst the other mail, eventually finding its way into the bathroom cabinet. In the meantime I continued to use my trusted BodyShopJuiceIt ...

to do away with every impurity that might be lurking beneath my skin. However, I was instantly met with a very potent, strong scent that literally grabs you by the nostrils and clings on with all its might. I had not anticipated such a strong scent ? it is quite hard to describe but it does make you want to gag it is that strong. I, though, carried on regardless and my next battle was in determining why this product, which is said to lather up nicely, stubbornly refused to foam up at all. Instead it decided to remain a murky green creamy sludge, although relatively thin in consistency.
Also, I was quite disappointed with the exfoliating particles. Since I use the BodyShop?sJuiceItbody exfoliator, I anticipated just as good an exfoliation on my face with this product. The small ground tea tree leaves did nothing really to give ...
Advantages: Really amazing scent. Everyone notices it. Lasts. Disadvantages: If only there were more products from Impulse with this scent!
the body spray out and show them, they are very surprised.
If I spray it on my clothes, they smell of it up until they get washed, so it lasts all day.
I'm going to try my best to describe the smell. It is not a smell which makes it obvious you are wearing some sort of perfume. When women walk by and a whoof of perfume scent follows them, it just seems overpowering and it's really obvious they are wearing a lot of perfume. This spray smells like you have jumped into a pool of sugary strawberry and kiwi juice, with a hint of tangyness. It's like a "The BodyShop" fruity lotion in a can, if you have ever smelt how wonderful the BodyShop stuff smells like, you should have some insight on the scent of this spray. It has the same strong fruity effect of when you open a new bottle of Herbal Essences fruit fusion shampoo (Smells somewhat ...
