Hmm, a strange one for me, this op, as I am a newcomer to the Beauty section of Ciao.
Not that I am new to beauty products (I know all those ciaoers must be thinking "what kind of a slutty girl is this, with no beauty experience??!!")but it has taken a product to really disappoint me to spur me into writing this opinion!
The Body Shop is usually well respected for its cosmetic products. There is a wide range of colours and products that are designed to suit all skin colours and types, and all are apparently not tested on animals. So far, so good.
Anyway, off I trundle, after pay day, into my nearest Body Shop in desperate need of a lipstick or lip gloss. I am bare lipped and need something FAST!
Perusing the lip colour selection, a range of products catches my eye.
A slim battery width, slightly longer than a cigarette, brush on applicator bottle of tinted lip gloss.
Just the ticket methinks - this will surely sort out my lips. It will deal with both colour and moisturisation. The style and design of the product will be great - not intrusive inside my handbag, and the applicator is attached to the inside of the lid, so no need to fiddle around looking for the lip brush. Perfecto!
I make a selection of colour from around 10 available to this particular product, ranging from clear gloss to browns, pinks, and reds and head for the checkout.
"That will be £4.95 please". Arrgghh a fiver for a lip gloss? Blimey! Theyre only two quid in Superdrug!!!
"Oh well, its the Body Shop. I've just got paid. What the hell, i'll treat myself" and so I pay my extrotionate fiver and off I go!
As soon as I am on the bus home, out comes the mirror, out comes the lip gloss. My lips need to be sorted out fast and lo and behold i'm bare lipped IN PUBLIC!!!!!!!!
Unscrew the lid, pull out the applicator attached to the lid and begin to apply the gloss.
Or should i call it gloop?
The consistnecy of this gloss leaves a helluva lot to be desired. Well, the tinted versions anyway. (The clear gloss appears to be less gloopy for some strange reason, but thats another issue - my issue is with these bloomin tinted ones!!!)
The 8ml bottle that the gloss comes in (no other option on size i'm afraid) has a narrow tube running through the middle of the bottle so that only small amounts of gloss are dispensed onto the brush at a time. This is frustrating. Only half the applicator gets gloss on it. You cannot give the applicator a good old stir or jiggle in the bottle to load up the brush. All you girls know what i mean!!!!
The gloss itself is exceptionally thick. Even when applying a half coated out of your own control brushful.
Rather than lips feeling full of moisture, or poutilicious (!) they feel way overloaded and sticky.
The distribution of the colour in the gloss is also really tricky. Due to the gloopiness of the product, and the erratic dispensing mechanism of the bottle, my lips tend to be patchy in colour. Since when did lip gloss take a girl 10 minutes to apply? With this product it will!!!
Now if I had to apply this once or twice, perhaps I could live with the whole 10 minute doing my lips thing.
Can I heck! This gloss wears off quicker than a quick thing moving very fast!! As such, the bottle gets used up really quickly, and i must spend around 40 minutes of my day applying gloss (I know - its really sad innit??!!)
Since using this lip gloss (no, I havent abandoned it - it cost me a fiver for gawds sakes - remember?!)my lips have now gotten into a worse condition than they were to start with. My lips have never suffered from being dry, but never look 'moist' either! (All this serves me right for doing stuff in the name of vanity I suppose!!)
Now I have flaky mouth syndrome.
So I think to myself, let me have a look at the bottle to see whats in this gloop. Perhaps I can see whats causing the dryness. Nope. You cannot see whats in the bottle. There are NO INGREDIENT listings on this product!
Very helpful Body Shop. Thanks. Especially as you are sooo concientious about the 'natural' ingredients your products contain. It would be nice to let us, the consumers, know whats in there too!
Hmm, as I read down the bottle, I note that Body Shop are 'Against Animal Testing'. They're against it, but do they do it? Two different things there matey! From the secrecy over the ingredients I have to be sceptical.
Overall, as if you couldnt guess (!!!) I am far from pleased with this product. Overpriced, by an overhyped company.
Lip gloss is supposed to be applied with ease, make lips feel lush, make the girl in question feel pouty, and the magic of gloss is that its applied in a second - a true instant beautifier!
How the Body Shop could make a bungle of a product like this is beyond me!
Advantages: the gloss lasts very long and their isn't a taste. Disadvantages: it was a bit overpriced, it had no smell to it, the gloss applyer started to smell.
...of shades. My favourite was the natural shade. It gives a long lasting shiny effect, almost as if you have plastic lips but you didn't have to pay the £30,000. It doesn't have a taste which is good, but it didn't have a scent to it either, which is bad. The gloss leaked a bit while it was in my make-up bag and after a while the gloss applyer started to smell bad, like it had expired or something. ...

Review of The Body Shop Lip Gloss
Advantages: Lasts a long time Disadvantages: Quite expensive
While looking in The Body Shop for my usual Cranberry lip balm I came across a lip gloss at the counter while I was paying. I wouldn't usually bother buying lip gloss especially for more than 5 pounds as this one was, but the fact that it was Nectarine flavoured changed my mind
I'm not obsessed with Nectarines or anything but I really like the smell and the taste (Much better than peaches!!) and you hardly ever see anything that is Nectarine flavoured ... ...The 10ml of gloss is bright orange, though it comes out clear. It comes in a see-through squeezy tube which has french as well as english writing on. I quite like the French writing for some reason, I think it makes me feel more sophisticated! Instead of a the usual rollerball or wand applicator this gloss has a dome shaped applicator which has a hole in the top through which you squeeze the gloss. Although this is good to begin with, when you are ...

Advantages: Loads of colour choices, good price Disadvantages: really sticky
Yep the packaging is really similar to the Ruby & Millie Lip gloss and so i the actual product.
The Body Shops version has the added bonus of being £6 nearly half the price of Ruby & Millies.
This lipgloss is in a tube that you twist the end and the gloss is puched out on to a brush for you to paint your lips with.
The only difference being that this has no silver cap, just classy clear plastic throughout.
I prefer this to the ruby & Millie gloss, ... ...of Ruby & Millies.
The body shops lip gloss is a lot stickier and so sticks to glasses and sticks your lips together. It's harder to put on evenly because its globy but once its on it looks really good. It's glossier and smoother than Ruby & Millies.
If you want value for money, but still want your lips to look glamously glossy then look no further! ...

Advantages: Everything about it - and that it isn't tested on animals Disadvantages: NONE!
The first time I tried this product - I was very sceptical - you see the colour was a chocolate brown - I don't mean a dark brown ... literally a tube of chocolate colour stuff!! My mum told me it looked good on other girls and that I should give it a go … I have never looked back – it is amazing and it protects your lips at the same time!! Subtle but sexy, glossy without the stickiness, protecting but doesn’t feel like a sun block on your lips. ...

...bought my lip gloss from the Body Shop just because I know they produce good quality make up that's not tested on animals. Having never bought any other lip gloss I can't compare it to anything else, but I think this is pretty good. I bought number 10, Natural. It's sort of pinky looking in the see through container (what is the name for it?), but it comes out clear on your lips. You apply it with the spongy brush. It wasn't that expensive at £4, ...

Advantages: Has organic olive oil in the product which is a natural moisturiser anyway and is economical on application. Don't need to re-apply very often. Disadvantages: The price I'm afraid which is £7, a bit steep for a lip gloss. Also doesn't show names of shades on packaging or the shelf it is being sold on.
This is an absolute must for make-up bags chicks ! ! ! ! !
I was in the Christmas mood in town, I had finished my Christmas shopping and thought I'd treat myself. I went past the BodyShop and thought I'd go and have a look inside. I have always liked the make-up, and even though it is quite expensive would pay the price because it is well worth it.
The new product I spotted was the BodyShop Colourings LipGloss. It is tinted and comes in a lot of different shades, neutral colours, pinks and one with just a glossy sheen. I wish I could tell you the exact names of the shades but they don't have it on the product or the shelf itself, but the packaging is see-through and you can see the colour. They also have testers on the display so you can try them first.
I chose a Berry colour. It was £7, which I thought was very steep ...
Advantages: easy to use, value for money Disadvantages: none!!!
I've always wanted that lovely glossy look that u always see celebrities sporting, now... we everyday people can have that wonderful glossly, yet natural look with lip gloss by BodyShop. Tis lip gloss can be used on its own, of with lipstick in order to create the exact tone that u want. I myself, use in in conjunction with BodyShop lipstick 58 which creates a really natural radiant look.
Try it, you'll love it, oh... i do think that this particular tone suits a fairer skinned person, a peson with a more rosy undertone. ...
Advantages: Unique product, smells amazing, instantly restores lips to a great condition Disadvantages: Slightly pricey, can look odd on the lips colour-wise
/Sensation--
Scrubby, but nice, and you get the simultaneous feelings of exfoliation and moisturisation (thanks to the marula oil) for quite a long time. The menthol also makes your lips feel slightly tingly.
--Scent--
Mmmmm minty. Tastes good too.
--Longevity--
Pretty good - it does last for hours - but you will need to reapply after eating.
--Value for money--
It is pretty expensive as far as lip care goes. However, I've seen nothing else like it, and it really is an absolute Godsend on those cold wintry days when a normal lip balm just won't cut it and you need that dry skin gone FAST. The speed at which it makes your lips smooth and kissable again is probably worth your £7.50 by itself.
