Yesterday I was feeling slightly under the weather albeit self inflicted, so I decided some pampering was in order and proceeded to run myself a nice bubbly bath and then had a wee route around to see what delights I had worth sampling and came across my Mango Body Butter by The Body Shop.
If you have read any of my ops before you will know by now that The Body Shop is one of my fave shops, well for a start lots of their products are part of their Community Trade range, where the general public will buy goods that have been made by smaller poverty stricken communities throughout the world enabling them to help themselves and not rely on charity, they are also very strict on the fact that none of their products are tested on animals and that most of their stuff is of excellent quality although a little pricey at times but it’s easy to see how they gained the honour of being the Consumer Association’s 2nd most trusted brand in the whole of the UK back in 1999.
Right, so I’ve rabbled on enough with some background, now I hear you all shout what about the product then Heather???
The Body Shop has a fantastic range of moisturising products and this includes their Body Butter range available in different scents for example: Coconut; Cocoa Butter; Soya Bean; Nut; Grape Seed; Melon Seed; Blueberry; Shea Butter; Olive; Honey; Papaya; Sesame and of course Mango, the idea being different scents are suitable for different skin types, Mango being suitable for very dry skin.
The packaging is all very similar in the whole range, 200ml circular tubs with screw top lids, all with the Body Shop logo obvious as always and the words Body Butter in large bold text. Each variety is a different colour to match that particular scent; the Mango comes in a bright orange tub with a enticing pic of a Mango itself in the background.
Upon opening you will be greeted by a very sweet exotic aroma which is Mango, you will either luv it or hate it, I don’t mind it but a word of warning here: you do need to be in the mood because it can be very overpowering and does tend to linger, so it’s probably not a good idea to use this whilst getting ready for a night out, it could drown out your perfume!
It looks like Lurpack Spreadable butter although the colour is a bit more orange and the texture feels very buttery although not too greasy, you only need a small amount as it’s very easy to apply and I find it just glides over the skin, it’s also absorbs very easily.
The best bit is it leaves your skin with a very nice glow indeed, that’s probably why J’Lo for example is a big fan, luv her or hate her, her skin always looks fantastic.
Although body butters can be used all over the body except of course your face, I find it’s ideal for my elbows and knees in particular as the skin can get very dry and I have to say the difference is very noticeable, it leaves a silky smooth finish.
It’s a good idea to start with a small amount to test the skin area first of all, although it’s highly unlikely you will be allergic because the ingredients are all natural produce for example Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter.
The cost is quite expensive, it’s £10.00 for a 200ml tub, although all these products are available for testing in Body Shop stores so you don’t end up wasting any of your hard earned cash, if you were to use this around once every week, I would reckon it would last you around 6 months, so weighing that up I would say it’s actually quite good value for money. Very often Body Shop do offers, for example any 2 body butters for £18, maybe put 1 by for a Christmas pressie.
Would I use again??
I do have a few of the body butters in my cupboard and to be honest I’m not sure if the Mango would be one I would buy again, there are others I would prefer, I think it’s maybe a little sweet for me, but maybe you will like it.

Advantages: Smells delicious, very moisturising Disadvantages: Price
...three 50ml body butters from the Body shop: Satsuma, Mango and Coconut, one for each skin type: normal, dry and very dry. I was very pleased indeed, not only because my favourite smells are mango and coconut but that my skin's sensitivity and moisture level vary from season to season. Returning to a very cold Europe after spending three months in sunny Mauritius, the Mango Butter suprised me with yet another its great properties.

I love creams which come in flat and round pots, they look rustic and you can easily scoop out the last bits without having to throw away non-recycable plastic bottles with an amount still in that easily lasts for another week. ~ Apperance and application ~

Obviously, you will need to use different amounts of different creams until you work out what you’re happy with. All the packaging in the body butter range is pretty much the same. ...last posted an op. The reason for this is after re-reading and editing some of my first op's, I thought the quality wasn't as good as it could be (Ciao forgive me for I have sinned ...) I took some time-out to read and learn a few things from you all and now I'm back!
I've decided to only write about products/services/issues I feel genuinely strongly about - whether it be love or hate.

Advantages: Gorgeous smell, really soft Disadvantages: Takes a while to soak in
I bought the Mango Body Butter at a Body Shop party. I'd seen them in the body shop before but never bought one after thinking they seemed a bit overpriced…but we all got a bit carried away buying things, plus it was my friend hosting her first Body Shop party so I wanted her to feel like she'd done well! At the party a strawberry sample of the butter had been passed around. It was far too sweet for my liking, but I really liked the texture and decided ... ...200ml tub. ===Packaging===
The body butter arrived about a week later. I really liked the packaging, it came in a big orange round pot, with a big picture of a mango on the top of the lid, with the body shop logo on the middle and 'Mango Body Butter' written in white lettering at the top. I was really pleased with how big the pot was, it justified spending £10 on a body lotion! ===The Body Lotion=== I opened the pot and absolutely loved the smell. ...

...I was pleasantly surprised by the bathroom gift I received- a Body Shop set! Now this was a set of toiletries I didn't mind! I got a lovely orange box, which turned out to be the mango gift set, and amongst all the goodies was the Mango Body Butter for very dry skin. The usual Mango Body Butter can be bought on its own in, ... ...As I'm sure everyone knows, the Body Shop doesn't do animal testing and produces environmentally friendly products. That's something I'm always happy with! However I do often find that a lot of the Body Shop products are very expensive. But then, you know you're paying for very good quality, so it's a matter of choice whether you choose to spend that bit extra for a bit extra!

Had to let you know about Mango Whip Body Lotion from The BodyShop
This product is nothing like the bodybutters. Im not keen on the butters, they are far too thick and leave a film of cream over my body which doesnt seem to disappear till the following day.
Having been given the body lotion as a gift I was a bit dubious to use it, but one application and I am hooked!!
The smell is so fruity and delicious and is a treat to use after a pamper bath or a shower.
The lotion sinks in almost immediately and leaves my skin silky smooth without any residue. The product costs around £7 for a 125ml bottle which considering how gorgeous it is- i find it really good value!! ...
Advantages: It lasted all day, I didn't need to moisturise again Disadvantages: It's quite pricey!
I recently purchased some BodyShopMangoBodyButter as I have very dry skin and wanted to try something new as other moisturisers don?t seem to effectively combat my dry skin. I have used BodyShop products before and although they are pricey they seem to be rather good. So anyway, I purchased a 50ml tub of MangoBodyButter for very dry skin for £4.
After my morning shower I decided to use the butter and see if it was any good; risking walking around for the whole day with dry skin! The butter seemed to go on very well and left my skin soft, supple and smelling great; I didn?t even have put perfume on! I must admit that the moisture does decrease throughout the day and so does the smell unfortunately, but my skin never got dry and I didn?t have to sneak into the toilet to have to cream my body anytime during the day! I love this ...
Advantages: The smell stays on your body, but isn't overpowering. Disadvantages: None! It's great.
's such a lovely smell!
I must say I am now a BodyShopBodyButter fan, which considering I don't usually bother with body lotions at all certainly must say something about this product! The BodyShop do a large range of BodyButter's including Coconut, Brazil Nut, Wild Cherry, Mango, Satsuma.. the list goes on and they certainly sound and smell delicious.
A 50ml tub of this bodybutter will only set you back £4.85 and I would say will last a while if you aren't using it every single day. If you become totally addicted to this product then you can get a 200ml tub of it for £12.20. ...
