The Body Shop. Overpriced, appears in every high street, underadvertised, confusing array of products you never knew you needed.... sounds like Starbucks then. But The Body Shop is all British, so it's a shop I do visit from time to time.... even if that Is just to use the lip balm testers!

Mothers' Day 2000, I picked some of this stuff up. "Nut Body Butter" eh? Bunkham! Maybe, but the smell had me hooked: nutty with definite chocolatey undertones. Mum was delighted with this product, designed to help dry skin, though it really is more of a novelty product, due to the smell and the fact that it's Body Shop. Had it not been intended for a gift, a good quality lotion would have done the job at half the price: and wouldn't have been as greasy....

Body Butter is quite greasy yes, and is slow to absorb, and being the consistency of peanut butter, it can be difficult to spread into a thin absorbable layer. So, best apply just before bedtime and drape the hands (or other treated appendage) over the duvet without touching anything.

But the results are very good: it gives lovely smooth skin to all and sundry.

Inside the squat brown tub, about the size of a tuna tin, 200ml of Body Butter lies in wait. It's available in a few "flavours", each ready to treat a different degree of skin dryness. This one is for just "dry skin". I paid around a fiver, but I think the price has gone up by a couple of quid now.

They want you to recycle the tub in their shop, which is nice, and they list the ingredients as Ghanian cocoa butter, Ghanian shea butter and Amazonian Brazil nut oil. Ooh, I say!

The longer list of ingredients is.....
  • Aqua
  • Cyclomethicone
  • Butyrosperum parkii
  • PEG-8 Beeswax
  • Theobroma cacoa
  • Glycerin
  • Cetearyl alcohol
  • Macadamia ternifolia
  • Bertholletia excelsa
  • Ceteareth-20
  • Benzyl alcohol
  • Phenoxyethanol
  • Triethanolamine
  • Methylparaben
  • Carbomer
  • Parfum
  • Propylparaben
  • Caramel.... Yummmmmmmmy!

What a list! I'm pooped! So try for a gift, or else get a lotion.

And so endeth my review.
I'm off for a rest. Sugarlily. x
