Christmas is but a few weeks away. Soon the air will be filled with those traditional Christmas sounds - sleigh bells ringing, carol singers singing, families arguing...

Pretty much every Christmas I get given a bottle of Body Shop Peppermint Foot Lotion (is someone trying to tell me something?). To borrow sparkydog's description, the lotion comes in a typical Body Shop urine-collection type bottle. As far as I know there are 3 different size bottles - a titchy 100ml one, a reasonable 250ml one, and a huge 500ml one. I've got a 250ml, and I think it cost around £4. The bottle has a little nozzle so that you can squeeze out the amount of lotion you want.

According to The Body Shop website, peppermint foot lotion was invented for marathon runners in order to refresh their hot, tired feet. I have to admit that I don't use the foot lotion after marathons - in fact the last time I can remember running at all was in 1991. My feet tend to get hot and tired after walking around in town for an hour, let alone after running a marathon.

The lotion is a pale pink colour and the first thing you notice about it when you use it is how cooling and soothing it is. According to the Body Shop info it contains peppermint oil which cools, soothes and overcomes foot odour. It is also ideal if you have hard skin on the soles of your feet - it contains almond oil and cocoa butter which helps to soften and soothe dry or rough skin.

The foot lotion also has an extremely strong, minty smell which is a combination of peppermint and menthol - it doesn't quite knock you out, but nearly. The lotion absorbs really easily into the skin and is not sticky, although it's probably best not to walk barefoot over mucky floors immediately after using it - you will end up picking up all the muck more efficiently than a Dyson.

If you can get a friend, family member, loved one or even complete stranger to apply the lotion for you, all the better (as long as you aren't ticklish!). Applying the lotion does involve a foot massage of sorts, so it is quite relaxing.

The cocoa butter used in the lotion is made using cocoa beans from a Community Trade Programme in Ghana.

Overall I think that peppermint foot lotion is a good Christmas stocking filler - it's one of The Body Shop's longest running and best selling products, and it is easy to understand why. It cools, soothes and mositurises your feet and leaves a lovely minty odour!

More information on peppermint foot lotion and the whole range of Body Shop products is available at www.the-body-shop.com/uk/products.

P.S. Sincere apologies for the title of this op, I'm afraid it was the best of a bad bunch!

Heh heh- I actually loved the title, so I suppose I'm a sucker for puns! Thanks for the credit in the op as well, nice to read my username in there! I love this product too, but haven't reviewed it as my profile is beginning to look more like Body Shop's homepage!
