I love exfoliating products, whether they be lotions, creams or gloves, and one of my favourite things is The Body Shops Skin Sponge. I have had mine for several months and when I first ordered it I thought it was solely for exfoliation but in fact its a sponge for every day that exfoliates at the same time.

The sponge as I mentioned is from The Body Shop and costs £5.00, its a beige/natural colour and measure approximately 9cm's x 12cm's, its an oval shape and has a little cord loop at one end to hang it up if you want to. The sponge appears to be well made and has a nice strong seam around the edge. The sponge actually feels like a regular sponge in an exfoliating cover.

When I bought my sponge it came in just a plain plastic recyclable bag, I cannot remember what was on the bag as it has long been dispensed with. To be honest when I opened the skin sponge I was quite surprised at how rough it actually felt, it was a bit like a scouring kitchen sponge.
The Body Shop claim this sponge will make shower gel go twice as far, will work up a rich lather and remove dead skin cells.

I was a bit dubious about using this as a regular bath sponge and to be honest I never have, the sponge feels too rough to use all over, although once soaked in warm water it does feel slightly better, and I just use it a couple of times a week for my legs and arms. The sponge is an ideal size for my hand and when you put a blob of shower gel on it it does lather up very well. The lather rinses out of the sponge with no problems and I always make sure I hang it on the tap to dry.

I love this skin sponge, when I use it I really feel like it is doing some good, my legs always feel so much nicer when I’ve used this and then moisturised, my skin looks better too. I like to use the sponge before I shave my legs, the roughness of it helps to prevent in growing hairs which can be a real problem. I have suffered from these much less since I bought the skin sponge. I sometimes use this sponge when I’m in the bath with body lotion instead of shower gel, obviously it doesn’t lather up but it leaves my skin incredibly soft afterwards.

My sponge has worn very well, it is starting to look a little used and is not quite as rough as it was at first but I have had it a good 3 or 4 months and its used regularly so I think it was definitely worth the money.

I would certainly recommend the Skin Sponge from The Body Shop, its not the cheapest exfoliating product out there, gloves are much cheaper, but this works so well with shower gel or body lotion, in my opinion its not suitable to use as a general everyday sponge its too rough for that but for exfoliating twice a week its brilliant.
