Got me converted to making fresh bread daily Cookworks Breadmaker

Advantages: No mess, no fuss
Disadvantages: It is quite big

I thought I would give bread making a go. I bought one of these premixed bread recipes and my son and I got down to kneading. It ain't for the faint hearted, it takes ages, it is very messy and the dough is difficult to clean. However we did make nice bread, so much so I really wanted fresh bread without the hassle. I looked at breadmakers and thought I did not really want to spend £100 on something that might not work too well and which may be may be a fad for a lttle while. I noticed Argos had a stainless cookworks breadmaker reduced to £29, I bought it and went home to try it out. The first bread was a disaster I had added too much water (my fault), my second attempt was great. I have now tried breads from the recipe book that comes with the bread maker and I have also bought the supermarket premixes as well. There is no mess ...

Review of Cookworks Breadmaker

The Bible: a historical perspective

Advantages: one of the most complex and fascinating books ever
Disadvantages: one of the most abused and misunderstood books ever

The Bible is a very difficult subject to write about. Its text that has shaped the western world, if not the world as a whole, it's a book that contains subjects as big as creation and as small as a single kiss. It is a book that documents the rise and fall of empires and armies and the lives of ordinary people; it is a book that covers thousands of years in its scope and the most famous last hours of anyone in history. It is a book that has created the basis for one of the most powerful religious institutions in history and yet is regarded as the most personal individual message. In short it is an enigma. So how do you discuss such a book, where do you begin? I will begin by explaining my angle. There seem to be two opposite camps that people fall into when the Bible is the subject for discussion. The devout see the writing as ...

THE BIBLE AS I SEE IT.

Advantages: Wonderful opportunity to learn.
Disadvantages: Not the easiest book to read.

I know that a lot of readers find the subject of the Bible a little uncomfortable and question, in their disbelief of God, the relevance of a book like this in their lives, and that many readers may also question my right to review such a book. I am not going to review in the traditional way, i.e. contents, length, price, etc., too much at all. For me, the importance of telling people a little more about how I believe it can enhance their lives, is far more important. You could ask yourself if I am significant enough a writer to be able to write a review about such a great book, and here I would argue that the Bible was written for everyone, and without going into the intricacies of the Bible in a "Bible thumping" manner, if I pursuade one person to read it and to change their view about what the Bible offers an individual, then I ...
