The second War of Korea
Review of Red Phoenix - Larry Bond by bigrupes

Advantages: Full of action
Disadvantages: Some may consider a 1000 pages a lot

...This book gives a graphic account of a second war in the Korean Peninsula. The usual Summer Student Riots in South Korea take on a new dimension aided and abetted by the North. Some of the South Korean military feel it is time for them to take control. The coup is intercepted and stopped. The repercusions caused by a medeling American Politician and the South Korean Politicians have far reaching effects and before the reader knows it the second war in Korea has started. The story has several key characters. 2LT Kevin Little, a newly commissioned Officer just arrived for a tour of duty in South Korea. Capt Tony "Saint" Christopher a USAF F16 Pilot. Anne Larson, a logistics expert and 2LT Rhee, A south Korean officer. The story also follows the North Koreans and other Ameircans and South Koreans. The plot is realistic, the battles... Bride and Doom
Review of Red Bride - Christopher Fowler by Soho_Black

Advantages: Some interesting ways of killing off characters
Disadvantages: Difficult to obtain and not really worth the effort

...horror", because much of what occurs in his novels happens in a known world, usually London, and features people you can relate to and, in many cases, see yourself in. The situations are often quite realistic and sometimes the scariest part of reading a Fowler novel is the knowledge that what is occurring could happen to you. Sadly, there is none of this in "Red Bride". The whole situation is a little too fantastic to leave you looking over your shoulder. Whilst John Chapel is supposed to be "everyman", the character we can all sympathise with and relate to, but he wasn't well drawn enough to seem realistic. As a supposed "hero", he is too weak to get you on his side and it's hard to figure out what Ixora sees in him. Ixora herself is fairly two dimensional as well which, as the "Red Bride" of the title, means that the whole book... Read review

Salem, not just a bad place for witches...
Review of Salem Falls - Jodi Picoult by skye_hoppus

Advantages: Excellent plot, relatable characters, great author!
Disadvantages: Not enough of it!

...than her others. As with all her books which I have experienced so far, this also featured the legal side of the story which I always find fascinating, and is a key tool in the novel to reveal more to the reader about the main characters. I felt in general the storyline to this book flowed beautifully, didn't seem at all forced to like Picoult was trying too hard. And as it's not hardback you can afford it! I bought my copy from Amazon and was impressed with the extremely low price, definately worth the money! So treat yourself to a new book today, you can't go wrong with Picoult... but make sure you've no important engagements in the next 24 hours as this is a book you won't be able to put down!...
