This book was a really good read and i would recommend Phillip Pullman's books to anyone as i have read quite a few of them. 'The Broken Bridge' is a gripping, sad story of a 16 year old girl, Ginny, discovers that her father has a son which she didn't know about and other secrets her family have been hiding from her. Andy, her best friend supports her but Ginny has to remain strong as her world dissolves around her. I did cry a few times during this book as it is quire sad in some parts but it has a really gripping storyline
...her whole life and as the book unfolds she finds out a lot of truths about herself. She finds out about her mother, that she has a half brother, her dad spent a short period of time in jail and that her grandparents are horible people. As the book goes on Ginny leans these things and runs out of people to turn to. But in the end she discovers that her dad, who she has completely lost faith in, is the only true person in her life.

Advantages: Plot is quite goof, well written Disadvantages: Ending is a bit disappoining
Picador which does suggest it is suitable for children but I would read it yourself before giving it too a child.
