So, the Chris Evans Breakfast Show is no more. One day he owns the company, next he's just an employee, now he's out on his arse and going to have to fight for his multi-million pound payout. Think of Victor Kayam (in the old Remington adverts - 'I liked it so much I bought the company'), reverse the situation, and there you have Chris.
Will the breakfast show survive, will Virgin radio survive, will Chris live to turn another airwave blue? It's ... ...must have enormous confidence in the guy they're bringing in to replace Chris, as Chris was undoubtedly Virgin's largest pull (even if his ratings were slipping). That's a hell of a lot of pressure on one guy who the majority of us have never heard of (so much so that I can't even remember his name and I last heard it no more than half an hour ago). I think he's Pete something, so will refer to him as Pete from now on (and apologies to all if I'm ...

Advantages: Good music selection Disadvantages: Adverts, Fawning sidekicks
...need to have been living the life of a hermit not to have heard of Chris Evans. He's the ginger-haired wunderkid of TV and national radio, loved (and made considerably wealthy) by millions.
Chris's primary route into our lives these days is via his breakfast show on Virgin radio, running 6:30-9am, it is available across the UK on MW, in the greater London area in FM, in stereo on satellite, and via the internet. The show even made a (brief) appearance ... ...hasn't heard the show, Chris is joined every morning by his 'crew' - am extended family that seems to have been populated by Chris's ex's and drinking buddies. The main topic of conversations on most mornings is what they (as a group) did the night before, and the listener is treated to all the gory details. It seems clear that none of the crew have much of a social life outside of fawning over Chris at every opportunity.
Apart from the additional ...

Advantages: Some humour Disadvantages: Bad jokes, bad presenters, bad music
...has to be one of the worst breakfast shows around. It doesn't help that I don't like the radio station that much.
I think that the music that they play is always the same. Having listened to my parents play the station for nearly 3 years now, I can confirm that they do play a lot of the same music, especially from the 80's, which really gets annoying after a few times of listening to it.
I also think that Chris is not funny. His jokes are all of ...

Advantages: makes me smile on the way to work. Disadvantages: way too many adverts.
...would say I can't stand the bloke. I never watched TFI Friday when he was on it, as he usually makes me cringe.
BUT - for some reason on the radio in the mornings I find him hysterical. Maybe it's because my brain is half asleep and can therefore deal with the low intelligence level of drivel that him and the rest of the team churn out.
I know it's rubbish and I should find something much more worthy of my ears, but on the way to work in the car, ... ...of me that early in the moring has got to be good. They seem to hit on the right combination of cheekiness, and yesterday they even managed to make Rod Stewart sound interesting. And as for the current trend in finding swearwords in popular sounds, the Bob the Builder accusation had me in fits.
Of course you have to put up with far too many adverts on Virgin, but at least the quality of music is far better than Radio One. If you haven't listened ...

The Ego has landed Review ofThe Chris Evans Breakfast Show (Virgin Radio)by

Advantages: some good music Disadvantages: dominate presenter
...a radio show. The host is so certain that we are interested in his life story to date that there is no need for anything else to be discussed. On the morning I listened to this show I was "treated" to a monologue involving Mr Evans and a women whose name he couldn't remember and how he found himself waking up in her home are not remembering how he got there. The excitement this story failed to generate was enhanced by the fact that it took place ...

Advantages: very enjoyable to listen to Disadvantages: sometimes can talk too much and quickly
...As i work as a postalworker, i am always jumping in and out of a van every morning. I used to listen to chrisevans on virgin 1215.
But recently i have started to tune into radio one, and listen to sarah cox on her breakfastshow.
At first i thought she was trying to be a bit like chris, she seemed to be trying to copy his stlye of show, what with having people in the studio and trying out different routines.
I think she was doing this mainly down to first time nerves. She has now settled down and the show seems to be going along nicely. All the links are nicely put together and she has a good choice of diferent style of music.
The talking with her studio guests is very witty, and unlike other radio stations she likes to keep this short, so to spend more time playing music.
The phone ins are very witty, when she tries to get...

Advantages: Wide Range of Music and Presenters Disadvantages: Not so good for evening listening
...Radio 2 has become my radio of choice, I will be honest and say that I used to mock listeners to the station as old fuddy duddies but have to admit that my view has changed. As a fan of ChrisEvans I moved to Radio 2 after a long period of listening to VirginRadio (even though Evans involvement had finished).
From the breakfastshow with the long standing Terry Wogan through to Drivetime with ChrisEvans there is a good mix of music and presenters.
Terry and his BreakfastShow is entertaining and I do find that I enjoy the chat that goes on and the interplay between Terry and various members of the traffic and news teams is fun. None moreso than John 'Boggy' Marsh who even has his own series of tales told about him in the now infamous 'Janet & John' stories. These innocent tales now sell on CD in aid of Children In Need...
