I bought 'The Client' as a beach book while on holiday. After opening the front page, the holiday was instantly forgotten as Grisham began to weave yet another tale of mystery and suspense. I could not put it down.

I think this has got to be among his best novels so far, although I end up saying that about each one! The story is hard-hitting, emotional, and jam-packed full of suspense. The way he describes the boy, so tough and street-wise, but when faced with hard-core crime, even he begins to tremble. And the lawyer is even better. The character research he put into her must have taken months. She is everything she appears not to be at face value, and as a result is seriously underestimated by all the big officials she and her client are up against. A real girl-power icon!

After reading the book, the film seemed so short and uneventful. If you're going to see the film, definitely read the book.

Grisham has outdone himself yet again, although I think even he must realise it this time.
