In the Club, you play as various characters fighting it out in a crazy high-adrenaline blood-sport called The Club, where you run killing people using a combo system where stylish kills and speed are rewarded in better scores. An interesting concept and a hark back to high score battles of old, but a fairly shallow experience overall.
"Story" ...Dragov (a Russian prisoner on the run) Renwick(a former Cop who's gone beyond the law to take the Club down and Seager (a crazy Candian-adrenaline junkie)
The story is cheesy but fairly interesting in a bad 80's film kinda way. Cut-scenes show the progression and provide a little character development, but it's mainly window-dressing to the main game.

"Story" You take control of a variety of characters, from Dragov (a Russian prisoner on the run) Renwick(a former Cop who's gone beyond the law to take the Club down and Seager (a crazy Candian-adrenaline junkie)
The story is cheesy but fairly interesting in a bad 80's film kinda way. Cut-scenes show the progression and provide a little character development, but it's mainly window-dressing to the main game.
"Gameplay" You control your chosen club participant around a course where you gun down generic enemies who have the gall to stand in one spot and shoot at you. Sounds simple doesn't it? It's pretty much summed up in the opening cinematic: "Kill quickly because in The Club, if you stand still you're dead..."
It's an odd experience, on one hand it's incredibly shallow: The enemies are barely a challenge and most of the levels are pretty similar. But on the other hand, it's combo system is incredibly additive. Every time you kill an enemy, your combo bar fills. Problem is, it's always draining. So you have to keep killing to get the best score.
This leads to a uniquely addictive system of remembering the level off-by-heart, rolling, throwing a grenade in a perfect arc to kill a group of enemies who haven't noticed you, hitting an enemy with a pistol one handed, diving though a door and blasting someone with your last bullet. The developers, Bizarre Creations, previously made the PGR series, which is combo based driving game, and it sounds weird, but this is the driving game of shooters. You have to know the course, all of it's tweaks, but instead of the perfect corner, it's the perfect head-shot.
However, repetition is the word of the day: Sprint, Siege, Survivor, Time Attack, Run The Gauntlet. Sounds like variety but they all blur into two sections: run through the level killing enemies, stay in one place killing enemies.
"On-line" I've not played the on-line much, but it's a bit of a weak point. Seems like the stereotypical multi-player game and doesn't bring much to the table. Spawn camping is a definate problem and the re-spawn timer is punishing.
One of the best features of on-line is the high score comparisons. In each level and mode, you can compare your score with people on your friends list or globally, and really brings you a sense of competition, nothing like successfully trying to one-up your mate's scores.
"Length" The length on this game is difficult to judge. The conventional storyline is probably about 2-3 hours with one character. But it's all about going back to old courses to shave valuable time off time-trials and try out harder difficulties.
"Graphics" The graphics are nothing to write home about, but just manage to reach the next-generation level. The problem is more the art style, which is pretty dark and repetitive: Do you want to go to the grey and brown prison or the brown and grey warehouse. But, the game isn't really about the graphics so it's not so jarring.
"Overall" If you want to try a old-school styled shooter and love the feeling of pulling off the perfect high score, get this game! If doesn't sound like your cup of tea, it's at least worth a try.
"Play if you like" Devil May Cry 4, Total Overdose, Old school high-scoring
"Buy, Rent or Burn" I'd probably rent to see if it's your thing, as it's a bit of a dividing game.
Advantages: The fact I rented it and could give it back Disadvantages: Linear Gameplay, Poor Graphics.
The Club
Developer: Bizzare Creations
Publisher: Sega.
Certificate: 15.
Before this game came out Sega were saying it was going to have the gameplay of Unreal Tournament. So it sounded not too bad. Previews said that the games story was about a underground club who pitted people against each other to try and survive as long as possible while working your way up the ladder. The gameplay tells a different story.
The enemys are always in the same ... ...you and try killing you. The maps are really not fun at all. Each map has 6 rounds, consisting of Sprint which sees you legging it to the end of the level before the clock runs out and while keeping a combo/score multiplier running by killing enemys and shooting at secret signs on walls. In Time Attack you earn seconds per kill, while running through the same map in 'Laps', In Siege you must hold a location on the map for a set period of time, And ...

Advantages: Points scoring system makes you play through again. A new taking on the shooting genre. Disadvantages: Can get repetetive and is best played in short bursts over a few weeks
...be a fresh take on the shooting game genre, run and gun action with the fast paced speed of racing games. This game encourages you to go in all guns blazing because the more kills you make, the more points you score and you will be forever trying to beat the top score. You choose from one of eight characters, all differing in style, and play through eight levels (like Venice, Steel Mill, Warehouse, etc) brimming with enemy cannon fodder. The score ... ...which are timed to keep the pace going. Siege and Survivor are about surviving an enemy onslaught whilst run the another mode as you complete timed laps with a checkpoint system. It is best to play the main tournament on easy mode and then work up to "insane" as you master multiple combo kills. This game is repetetive and might not have much depth, but beating high scores makes it addictive and challenging. Whats more, the game runs very smoothly ...

Advantages: unique features Disadvantages: slightly repetitive
The club is a group of people who have more money than sense. They put their lives on the line to complete in tournaments and stay alive. The game itslef is a first person shooter with eight locations including the manor house, an ex assylum. The challenges are simple get the best score and stay alive. My fovorite challenge is Run the Gauntlet, which is like a race against time where you have to do three laps and find the clocks. Each clock gives ... ...with who also get unlocked the more you play the game. The most diffucult level is insane, location are an old ship, prison cells, the manor house (an ex english asslyum). A very good game but could have done with more challenges. Main thing that is good is the combo meter which increases with every kill as long as you dont let it run down., You also get bonus points for long range kills amd head shots. There are more challenges on line but I havent ...

Advantages: -10 minutes of fun- Disadvantages: online and story play is a let down. a BIG one
...leaderboards
17 differnt weapons
The game is about undergorund networks of corrupt and seriously sick buisness men who fund and gamble upon the *Worlds* most leathel Bloodsport.
What you do in the game is make sure you score the highest points, and to score the highest points you need too kill people.
Sound good doesnt it :)
Well it really aint.
The story mode is nothing like it sounds.
At first i was stuck on the practice mission for 2 hours. ... ...play is 2/10 due to the fact you cant talk online, or atleast no1 talks. Many people glitch and use cheats. Many people are agressive and use vulgar language.
This is why i am going to give this game, and remember this is my opion, you could like this game. 3/10
If youre a FPS fan, then you are better buying Call of Duty 4 or Rainbow 6 V2
Thx for your time and your comments are appreciated ...

Advantages: Great gameplay, good choice of cars and accessories, good map and good graphics Disadvantages: The handling of the cars is not realistic
Midnight Club LA is street racing game which involves buying, modyfying and racing cars and bikes. The game has a great story line and can kepp you entertained for hours. The map on the game is massive, it includes famouse places in and around LA making the game feel realistic and more fun to play.
There is a nice choice of cars inclisding an Adui, a couple of Lamborgini's, Mercedes, a Nissan Skyline and a Mitsubshi Evo. Like other games in this genre, the first car you buy is an old banger which you can modify internaly and externaly, including the engine. What i really like about this is the choice of things you can do to your car in order to make it exactly how you want it. It is so specfic it even gives you the option of changing the steering wheel and the speed dials. You dont see this on many games these days so i think this is ...
Advantages: Some realistic cars, a fun but not too serious game :) Disadvantages: Expensive, repetitive, too realistic for those used to NFS on ps2!
I bought Midnight Club LA spur of the moment because I was disappointed with Forza 2 as its so realistic and wanted a crazy racing game like the old days of NFS underground on ps2. It took some getting used to, but its half way there.
Again the game aims for realism losing the element of fun. You can't bounce off walls to get around corners on racing games these days! It took me a long time to get a feel for the controls however once I managed the game became a lot more enjoyable. Using the triggers on the back of the controller instead of buttons (X and O for ps2 owners) make controlling vehicles a lot easier as you can control your speed, but when racing I found this irritating as just holding the accelerated gets you in a mess.
As a game however once you get past all this it is pretty good. Standard street racing stuff- cool looking ...
Advantages: Fast addictive gameplay, great online multiplayer, photorealistic graphics Disadvantages: Short single player game
When Rockstar games announced they were developing for the Xbox360 everyone expected their usual fare, a new Grand Theft Auto or Midnight Club, maybe a sequel to Manhunt, but definitely something urban and gritty. But what did we get, a game of ping pong. Everybody laughed at first, they thought it had to be some sort of joke, but now the games here, and believe me, it's no joke.
Rockstar may be new in the field of sports games, but they have really excelled with their first offering in the genre. Everything about the game is extremely polished, from the photo realistic graphics, perfect gameplay physics, and suitable sound effects to the simple uncluttered menus. This really is the perfect simulation of the sport.
Gameplay is easy to pick up with your analogue stick controlling your player and direction of shot and your controllers ...
