Advantages: Light, fast paced easily read crime drama.
Disadvantages: Insubstantial

..., their seedy, down-at-heel lawyer on the outside. Because of who they are they have brought a sort of rough justice behind bars and act as arbiters of disputes and dispensers of justice to other inmates to which something of a blind eye is turned by the authorities. They also run a successful scam operation involving the planting of evidence and the colelction of blackmail which has built up quite a fortune. Plot line 2 sees the behind the scenes wheeler dealing of chair-bound CIA chief Teddy Maynard (and his many minions) and small town congressman Aaron Lake – power games, plotting and corruption into the highest reaches of government. Then of course The Brethren pick the wrong man. Then of course things get out of hand. Advantages: Good book: attractive ideas simply presented at reasonable price
Disadvantages: Not really!

...work, Utilitarianism, and two lesser essays (Considerations on Representative Government and The Subjection of Women). For a very reasonable £2.99 this is the text I’d recommend for anything from general interest to degree level (and that’s not just university bias!) But why read it at all? Well, Mill’s thought may not have been entirely original, but it was elegantly put. His writing general aimed to make his ideas accessible to the common man, and On Liberty shares his typical ease of reading. What’s more, the ideas he presents were (and still are) immensely influential. The basis of Mill’s theory could be summed up ‘live and let live’.
