Gary Larson - remember his name!

Advantages: hilarious
Disadvantages: not enough of it!

More people in the World should know of Gary Larson; his humour is unmatched and the content is just superb. If you don't, this is a funky little buy to help you introduce yourself to him! The majority of the sketches in this book which have orginated from Larsons Newspaper work, do mainly centre around cows; with the central glossy pull-out a round up of cow breed which have had the Larson take on them - hilarious! He doesn't just do cows though; chickens, bears, ants, ducks, scientists, and many more feature! There are some of his non-cow sketches included, along with sketches that make sense, sketches that don't and sketches that are just plain absurd! If you're new to Larson you have to take a few minutes to appreciate each picture and the message it may (or not) be hinting at. Don't dismiss the caption, it usual helps ...

Gary's Take

Advantages: Great reading
Disadvantages: Would have liked more gossip about him and Robbie's arguments

insight into the hard work that was involved in making the sell-out tour and how it was hard for the band to get fit for it! I have the hard back copy of this book which is priced at £18.99 but can be bought cheaper now. Even if you have to pay full price it is well worth it. The book has a great cover which is plain and simple with just a picture of Gary on. The dust cover is removable which is a bonus as it can be romoved whilst reading to stop it getting creased or damaged. There are a lot of great glossy photograph contained in this book from throughout his career. When you open the book the covers inside are full of a collage of Gary photos and notices about his gigs, if you look at them closly enough you get a real insight into some of the places he played trying to make a name for himself. This book is written completely in his own ...

The Best of Gary Rhodes

Advantages: We know him and love him
Disadvantages: none!

Author Introduction Most people are familiar with Gary Rhodes, a top class chef and a regular on television programmes. I have not seen him on television for a while now, so maybe a short introduction is in order. Gary?s love of cooking goes back to his childhood. At the tender age of thirteen, he cooked a special pudding for his family. His passion for cooking led him into a career as a chef, attending a catering college in Broadstairs, Kent, where he became top of his class. Landing a job at the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam, his career nearly ended when he was run over by a tram and required brain surgery. Thankfully, he made a recovery, returning to Britain in 1984 to work at the Capital Hotel. He had several jobs and numerous awards. The prestigious Catey award (the caterings equivalent to the Oscars) was awarded to him, for his ...
