Egypt's false prophet

Advantages: an insight into a lost period of history
Disadvantages: a complex history

system. A combination of the loss of revenue from the old established temples and his extravagance in building his new temples and cities lead the country to the brink of bankruptcy and caused his exile. The effects of his "reforms" were the same as if you tried to shut down the Church of England over night. So what of the book? Well to begin with Nicholas Reeve's book covers a lot of ground. Not only does it trace Akhenaten's reforms and the earth shattering effects that they had on the country but also it examines what may have driven the man to do what he did. But more than limiting his scope to this apocalyptic period in Egyptian history, Reeve also looks at the fall out from those affects. A Reeves & Mortimer Product

Advantages: Still Funny, Well Priced, Decent Documentary
Disadvantages: May be too bizarre for some tastes

Pure joy and elation come close to describing what I felt when I heard that Vic Reeve's Big Night Out was coming to DVD. After sprinkling some golden grahams on a shrimp's eye that night I instantly put it on my Christmas list. And thanks to bearded one I was in possession on a garish orange coloured dvd on that holy day. Vic Reeves Big Night Out started life in a room above a pub in London. Slowly it grew a fan base as people turned up to witness the mayhem of a show unlike any other. After moving to a bigger venue, the show got a lot of recognition and subsequently got snapped up by Channel 4. The show captured the zeitgeist of student culture at the time because it was different from anything else. To this day it remains original, very funny and incredibly bizarre. The concept of the show had Vic Reeves presenting a variety ...

The Rescue - Nicholas Sparks, a story about love

Advantages: A wonderfully romantic story with complex undertones
Disadvantages: None

The Rescue is a very good book, I feel it's safe to say that it is one of my favourite Nicholas Sparks books and as Nicholas Sparks is one of my favourite authors it makes it one of the best books that I have ever read. As with all his books this story is set in North Carolina. It starts off with a raging storm, one that could be considered record breaking. Denise and her son Kyle are driving along when their car skids off the road. When Denise comes round the fire department are there but her son isn't. This sends her into a major panic as not only is her son missing, but he is only 4 years old and he has severe learning difficulties. Taylor, a volunteer fireman, goes off in search of Kyle along with other members of the force. During this time he forms a connection with Denise and her son. Taylor is well known amongst his department ...
