I have had my laptop now since March, and so far I have not had any problems with it what-so-ever.
Around March time my dad and I went off on a mission to find ourselves a laptop, going round many different stores and shops in Preston. The firt place we went to was The Computer World (formerley Time). It is quite a small store, but there are plenty of computers on shelf to view and test out, there is also alot of other hardware and software on the shelves which are reasonably priced. However there were not too many laptops on offer, the shelves were mostly dominated by Desktop Computers, but as they are the most popular, that can hardly be a disadvantage 9and considering it was a quite small store), but the laptops that they did have were extremely good value.
Anyway we looked around some of the laptops for a couple of minutes when a sales assistant came over and assisted us. We went through exactly what specification we wanted, and then he talked us through the different advantages and disadvantages of each machine which i found extremely useful. He then showed us their best deal (a 2000+ AMD Athlon, 480Mb RAM, 40Gb Hardrive, DVD+ CD-Rewriter Combo drive + more) and explained to us that we would not find a better deal anywhere else.
My dad, who was determined to prove them wrong travelled around Preston about 10 times, looking at different shops and comparing the specifications. The man at Computer World was right from the beginning - we would not find a better deal anywhere else because the Time laptop was extremely good quality and extremely good priced at £999 (exc. vat).
So we went back to Computer World and talked to the same sales person again who had a huge grin on his face knowing that he was right and we were wrong - not in a horrible way though! Throughout the whole process the staff and salespeople were extremely helpful and co-operative, and didnt seem to be patronising when talking a load of computer jargon (which I found alot of other stores can be). The only one disadvantage was that i had to wait 2 weeks before i could get my laptop because it had to be made in the factory, but that didnt bother me too much as I got a great computer and a great price, and the laptop was delivered after 8 days aswell which was an added bonus.
The salespeople were also very good at giving advice, and going through different insurance offers, and we found that very useful. I took out a 5 year deal which meant whenver the laptop broke down I could get it fixed free of charge within 2 weeks, so that gave me (and my dad!) peace of mind because my old computer crashed nearly every 2 weeks.
So, overall I would definetely recommend The Computer World to anyone.
