I had to read and study this play as part of my A-level coursework, and i found it a thrilling and intresting play. Set in the 17th centuary, the gullible and vunerable town "Salem" is the centre of a bizzare witch hunt started by rumours. Hundreds of women were slaughterd in the puritan town for allegedly "speaking with the devil," We follow the main characters John and Elizabeth Proctor, a farmer and his wife who are among the accused. Their former maid, a beautiful, but a cunning and decietful seventeen year old , Abigail wants John to herself and so spreads the rumours about Elizabeth further. Miller keeps the suspense through out the entire play and even though keeping the language is in simple format, the reader does not guess the shadowed future that lies ahead for the main characters.

Have a look at other people's review to see what makes a more helpful one - also keep an eye on spellings/typos....I find it helps to write reviews in Word first. Hope this helps! MaryX
