"The Diary of Anne Frank" is the story of a Jewish girl and her life during World War II told through the diary which she kept.
World War II - the diary of a thirteen year old Jewish girl Anne Frank. To escape the horrors of Nazi persecution Otto Frank (Joseph Schildkraut) hid with his wife (Gusti Huber) and their two daughters Anne (Millie Perkins) and Margot (Diane Baker) in a disused Amsterdam attic for two years. Also hiding with them were Mr and Mrs van Daan (Lou Jacobi and Shelley Winters) their son Peter (Richard Beymer) and a dentist Mr Dussel (Ed Wynn). In her daily journal Anne recorded the trials and tribulations of the people around her trying to live a normal life in the cramped confines of the tiny attic whilst under the constant threat of discovery by the Gestapo. The strain and the almost unbearable tension of their situation is skilfully conveyed in this remarkable and poignant triple Oscar'' winning movie.
...all heard of Anne Frank the brave thirteen year old who wrote her harrowing account as she hid with her parents and sister and four other people. They were hiding in a sealed off back of rooms of an Amsterdam office building in 1942, when the Nazi invaders intensified their persecution of Jews. Her ... ...of a child, the problems of her unfolding womanhood, her falling in love. Its an intimate account of her feelings and it conveys a sense of spirit and hope. Not only does it serve as an excellent historical book AS it gives first hand accounts of the persecution of the Jewish people but its an excellent book of a child’s hope and disappointments. Its an amazing read, hope was like an instinct to her, she never gave up. Four months before her ...

...to Amsterdam and knew that the one, most important thing I had to do whilst there was visit Anne Franks house. I did visit her house, but that is another opinion. This opinion is about the book, The Diary of a Young Girl. I bought the book prior to my visit so that I would have some valuable background. This is my opinion on probably one of the most moving books I have ever read.
Anne was born on June 12, 1929. She was a German-Jewish teenager who ... ...her father’s office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
After being betrayed to the Nazis, Anne, her family, and the others living with them were arrested and deported to Nazi concentration camps. Nine months after she was arrested, Anne Frank died of typhus in March of 1945 at Bergen-Belsen. She was fifteen years old.

Advantages: Factual and well written account Disadvantages: None
My copy of the diary of Anne Frank was presented to me in 1973 by my local church for regular attendence. My religious tendancies have fallen by the wayside over the years, but this book has been more enduring and in a profound way.
It is difficult to get children to understand the horror, indignities and injustice of war. Visually it can be too upsetting, causing an overload of information that isn't easily acceptable to youngsters. Equally, the ... ...can also impact heavily across the age spectrum.
At the start of her teenage years, Anne Frank, her parents, sister and four other people, all Jewish, go into hiding in the sealed off back rooms of an Amsterdam office building. The persecution of Jews had gathered in intensity and ferocity by 1942, and it's this that has prompted the family to take such action.
They lived their lives in this cramped and terrified fashion for some 2 years, until ...

...in Waterstones or Blackwells. In the end we had to order it from WH Smiths who didn't stock it either!!
Anyway, we finally got it 2 weeks later and found it was the latest definitive version which also has previously unpublished material.
Which makes life difficult particularly if you have read the earlier editions. You see Anne originally started a diary in 1942 then in 1944 a radio announcement asked people to keep letters and diaries as eye ... ...memory as well as keeping the original.
Later Otto Frank her father selected material from both her books and edited them as a shorter version which became the original book.
So this version is the original book wit more bits from the original diaries plus some previously unknown pages.
Right now we've understood that, who is Anne Frank? Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl living in Holland with her parents Otto and Edith and her older sister Margot ...

Advantages: Gives us an insight to what it was like to live in Germany as a Jew during the second world war Disadvantages: Heart rendering, extremely shocking and tragic
Out of the so many books i have read so far in my life, 'Anne Frank-The Diary Of A Young Girl'has got to be one of the best emotionally. The book helps understand what it was like for a girl of 13, to have to live in silence, not be able to go outside and always the fear in case your caught.
Before reading the book its hard to imagine what living during a war would be like, and even harder to imagine a young girl trying to survive from the Germans. ... ...hard times, and it shocks the reader when she prays for her friend from school names Hanneli not sure whether shes dead or alive.
"Is she still alive?, Whats she doing? Dear God, watch over her and bring her back to us" To understand what the girl was going through is hard to realise. The pain and heartache she must have suffered not knowing if her friends were dead or were living terrified in their homes. She describes her transition through puberty ...
